    1. Musr be undeemanned every week for the last 3 years since joining NPL. 28 shots to zero. Embarrassing

    2. Who could tell. They get smacked most weeks whoever they put on the park.

    3. Well done Zebras. Certainly improving! Shameful.

  2. Serious question if United were swapped for South East united would it be that bad?
Possible the players at United actually capable of playing NPL would head to Riverside or City and improve their squad depth and make the competition better. It would then bring the 8 teams to 5 in the south, 2 in the north and 1 in the NW. Increasing the travel for anyone past Campbell Town. Will that affect the competition?

    1. Spot on. All online the now know that 3 Lonny teams doesn’t work. It would undo the mess caused by FT bringing United into the NPL.

    2. South East can’t even beat Taroona 😂

  3. The Zebras momentum from last week worked a treat

  4. Kingborough were absolutely dominant at the den today, big result for Devonport. Next weeks clash against the lions and city next week could prove to be pivotal. Although coming off the back of today’s performances my money is on Fenech’s young men to come out on top next week. Could end being an extremely good year for kingborough, exciting weeks to come for sure.

    1. Don’t disagree with 819pm. But I don’t think it’s the young lions so much. Boro success is built around a solid spine of Lutmer Downs and Mies that is as good as any. Like any good team must have a good spine. Some promising players coming through the ranks to complement them makes for a good balanced side.

    2. Agree completely hardly a young side

      Eli - late 20s
      Downs - 30s
      Mies - late 20s
      Ponce - late 20s
      Ryan cook - late 20s

Quite a experienced side along with SH and Dev the most experienced in the league I’d say.

    3. Yes the better sides have those quality senior players.

  5. Devonport WSL fortunate to get a win! Amazing result for Taroona going 2-1 up. You can see the improvement.

  6. Zebras will improve when they get some decent imports .Keenan Douce and when Hatcher is back from injury should help the back row in defence.Pretty sad with all the keyboard kings loving the Zebras going down hill but only time will tell

    1. Will still finish in bottom two.

    2. Going down hill? You could argue they’ve hit rock bottom for a while now

    3. I'm going with what history shows us. The merger was meant to be about strengthening them, and there has been zero evidence of any improvement since. Or haven't they had enough time yet???

      Delete
    4. Problem with the merger is that both Clarence and Zebras wanted to be the dominant partner in the whole arrangement. That is fact and both parties know that. Blind Freddie could see it was never going to work other than the parties involved. They both merged for their own selfish reasons and get what they deserve.

    5. They need more than those couple of guys to plug the holes especially through the middle

  7. Noah Mies continues to knock them.

    1. Very good player. Continues the family football tradition Brian.

  8. Glenorchy Knights just terrible this afternoon. Forget about them being a totally different team from last year, there were 11 individuals running around the pitch today. They seemed disjointed and no sign of any cohesive planned system of play. Even if a coach hasn’t got the players he must be able to get what he has got to play to some sort of a plan. From 3rd to 5th today with games against every team above them to come. I think next weeks game against Riverside is also a real danger game.

    1. They are dropping off quickly

  9. Zebras are embarrassing, two rbs aren’t going to make thrn any better

    ReplyDelete
  10. Forget replacing teams, or expanding, just cut the NPL to 6 teams. Get rid of Launceston United and Zebras and the league would be in a decent spot. Also allows 2 x home and away games against each side and removes the current fixture imbalance problems. There just isn't the depth in quality for 8 teams.

    1. This would be a great idea if you wanted to completely kill the state league! So short-sighted…

      Delete
    2. Great idea, for FFT is it about football quality or revenue? There is the problem.

      Delete
    3. 525 United and Zebras are bringing down the standard of the NPL. Be a better comp without them. Remove them and bring in promotion relegation

      Delete
    4. 8:22pm - no problem with replacing them, but the state league would fold very quickly with only 6 teams.

      Delete
    5. Completely wrong. It would be a far better competition if it was the top 6. No one from Lonny United would get a game in another NPL team apart from the keeper.

      Delete
    6. 3:55 - hypothetically yes, but players don’t want to play the same 5 teams all year. Good luck keeping the best players interested in that…

  11. Great game in the WSL Utd vs South. Big comeback and that 2nd Gunton goal was unreal, Dev will be happy with that result.

  12. Young players coming through at Borough, Galt and Dolliver looked good when they came on, could be a big era of dominance soon.

    2. Agreed, the two young blokes brought lots of energy and actually created a few quality chances, love Fenech’s attitude of trusting his youth products, think there was 9 or more players under the age of 21 on Saturday. From the outside it’s good to see a coach digging into his youth products rather than the transfer market for once, launie city have done the same and those two teams are doing welll this year, big clash next weekend.

    3. Yep the will still finish mid table again the club is a community club just lacks the cutting edge .

Needed have done for year’s can talk the talk but can never walk the walk !

  13. Not even July and the NPL title race is over.

Launceston Juventus didn't keep up the fight for very long...

    1. Footballs a cruel game at times, they played well in both the last two weeks as a neutral fan they probably deserved something out of both games, seems their squad depth is hurting them a little bit. You also have to say SH are doing tremendous to be unbeaten for this long.

      Delete
    2. 1117 agree with you

      Delete
    3. SH should go through pretty much undefeated with the amount of players defected from clubs to join them this year. If they don’t win it, they would have had a bad year

      Delete
    4. Juve needed to be tighter at the back. Conceding 5 goals in two weeks never ends well

      Delete
  14. 15-0 loss for Zebras Championship?! How on earth does that happen at that level…

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Very few adequate players or coach for the level, and no support from the club it would appear. A real shame.

    2. Playing 3 at that back that is how things like that happens.
