Unlucky Souths. Second best alll day. Still a gap in quality
Of course there is a gap. Teams like Wollongong have significantly more money. Just look at their new Japanese signing who played today.
South certainly played well in patches and were probably the better team in the second half, but the overall speed & quality showed in the end. Very entertaining and enjoyable day despite the rain at Darcy Street.
If South want in the NSD they’ll have to improve lots… can’t wait to see Andy Brennan back next year!
South just played Long ball again and the big defenders deal with it easily. Need to change something or they will be knocked out very easily.
One would think Kasper Hallam & Alex Walter would have improved their chances today compared to some of the kids, respectfully… injuries?
South totally out played against a side the should beat a long way of .
National Second Tier quality playing a side that finished 8 in its respective league.
Was South's best chance of a result baring some dead rubbers at the end

1300 people on a cold, wet day. The atmosphere was fantastic, especially when we equalised.
JJ will be sold out on Wednesday night again.
AFL tas has record membership for the Devils.
It shows Tasmanian’s love their sport and will follow.
Football Tasmania should enter a state team and all players go back to their club and season end .
It would work well that way we don’t have all players at one club much better for all clubs .
Hopefully Football Tasmania appointed a coach and press ahead with the idea .
South Hobart have the biggest payroll in Tasmania !
Don’t be tricked by their constant denial’s Morton and Kemp on $800 plus a game .

We’re does all this money come from MSS ,Sponsorship events it’s seem’ an awful lot club’s have lost the plot in this area !
Not sure about a lot better, he is a J-League player who has represented Japan

To me it’s a fantastic idea to bring back established clubs like south Hobart. Syd Olympic. Syd Croatia etc and get a national set up happening. We have been watching soulless new franchise A league football for a while now. The level of the comp is nowhere near A league but it should get bettter. Maybe a third division in the next ten years. Proper promotion and relegation. And played in Winter
And was on the bench in the Asian champions league final against Ronaldo THIS YEAR.
Sick of all the negative chat on here, we should all want south hobart to do well. They’re representing OUR state. Get down to the ground & support them, the better they do the better it is for the round ball game for EVERYONE involved.
Bunch of loser in here - get a grip. Get around it and support South representing Tassie. Playing against semi-pro teams in the Vic and NSW NPL. Did you expect them to win 5-0?
South are also a semi pro team.
Bit of a difference in resources between a club like South Hobart and a club like the Wolves who have a Japanese international playing, who was also on the bench for an Asian Champions League final.
Heard of the Kit Room? It may not be in existence any longer but they supplied South with all their kits
A semi-professional Tasmanian team VS semi-professional NSW/VIC teams. Big difference. They were also 1-1 until the 65th minute. Is that not competitive? I usually can't stand South Hobart btw, but will still support them because it's good for Tassie football.
Reading through the comments and you quickly learn that a lot of people like to make excuses for South, a lot of people like to knock South.
They won the local competition and earned their place in this competition, well done to them. They raided as many good players from other teams at the start of the NPL to build a team that went on to win, well done to them.
However to suggest we should blindly support them because they " represent" Tasmania is a false narrative. South Hobart represent South Hobart and nothing more. In reality they were flattered by the scoreline and , just me personally, don't think they will get a single point in this competition.
What we should be asking is what can our governing body do to improve the local competition so in future teams playing at this level are more competitive? Certainly a decision recently to expand the NPL is not going to do that at all, it will in fact make it more Sunday league like.

Finally someone with a little intelligence and understanding.
Football Tas will be 100% responsible for the improvement/ success of the NPL next year. Anyone with some knowledge will predict failure based on the recent decision to bow to FA and increase number of teams.
A State Team under FFT banner is the best way forward in this competition for Tasmania.
They are literally the Tasmanian representatives after winning the Tasmanian NPL. Every sooks about 'we want an a-league team' but then we have a Tasmanian team with Tasmanian players, playing in the National second tier, and people would rather spend their time having a crack at them.
My assumption is always - You guys were just sad losers who never played at a decent level and are spiteful :) Classic case of tall poppy syndrome..
