Daniel Arnaiz performed exceptionally well for Tasmania at last week's national youth championships in Sydney

Tasmania’s Boys’ Under-16 and Under-15 teams participated in the national championships last week at Valentine Sports Park in Western Sydney.

Both teams were in Group B of the tournament.

The Under-16s finished fifth in their 7-team group, while the Under-15s finished sixth in their 7-team group.

Tasmania’s Daniel Arnaiz, who plays for South Hobart and has appeared in their NPL team, is sure to have attracted the attention of scouts as he netted 6 goals in 7 games.

I have been reliably unformed that all Tasmania’s goalkeepers performed exceptionally well.

Tasmania's Under-16s were coached by James Sherman, while Tommy Fotak was his assistant.

The Under-15s were coached by Alfred Hess, assisted by Keenan Douce.

The complete results were:

State Under-16 Boys

Tasmania 2-4 NSW Metro White

[HT:1-4]

(Tasmania’s scorers were Tristan Galt and Daniel Arnaiz)

Tasmania 3-1 Queensland Maroon

(Tasmania’s scorers were Henry Routley, Daniel Arnaiz and Oli White)

Tasmania 0-1 Northern NSW

Tasmania 0-8 Victoria Metro White

Tasmania 3-2 Northern Territory

(Tasmania’s scorers were Daniel Arnaiz( 2) and Josh Zeeman)

Tasmania 0-3 Western Australia

Tasmania 2-2 Capital Football

(Daniel Arnaiz scored both goals for Tasmania)

State Under-15 Boys

Tasmania 0-6 NSW Metro White [HT: 0-4]

Tasmania 1-5 Queensland Maroon

(Rex Maddock)

Tasmania 0-5 Northern NSW

Tasmania 0-3 Victoria White

Tasmania 3-0 Northern Territory

(Jasper Evans, Louis Bew, Tyson Matthews)

Tasmania 1-3 Western Australia

(Rex Maddock)

Tasmania 2-7 New South Wales

(Jasper Evans 2)

Victoria Blue won the Under-16 final, beating NSW Metro 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out after the teams were level at 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Victoria Blue won the Under-15 final 3-0 against Queensland White.
