  1. Also Walter Metro defeated the TIS 4-1. Scorers for Metro were Jason Dawes 2, Aaron Marney 1 & Jeremy Morris 1.
So much for them being rubbish who ever said that before Rhodes has trained them well to beat a well drilled TIS team.....c'mon Mets 2010

  2. Thanks Walter for the up date, so what happens if boro defeat knights 1-0, who go's through knights, clarence or boro to the final

  3. anon6:02, it was probably some nelson player to say that, but who cares what they say, mr Rhodes and his young team will do fine this season.

  4. Settle down mets! I know you can only beat what's in front if you, but that hasn't been much so far. There are 3 heavyweights in div 1, metro included, but the other 2 are in the other group. The other teams will just make up the numbers in that league this year.

  5. Walter - The Eagles Player in reserves is Michael Snape.

  6. wasnt TIS wanting to play in the premier league though? they must be alright to be even considering that?

  7. i dont think rhodesy will let the boys get to over the top hes been round long enough and nows this is a rebuild year for metro. But i am sure he nows there will be good and bad days with such a young group.Lets hope they stay togther for a couple of years and they give him a chance to develop the group .

  8. Anonymous (7.32pm), thanks for telling me the name of the Eagles player. I have adjusted the description of the photos accordingly. Much appreciated. I wonder if anyone from Taroona can help me with the name of their players?

  9. Eagles look v. light on for depth with their ressies looking mainly like nuff nuffs (particularly the neanderthal wearing no. 7 today) but their seniors did well to keep South at bay until the last minute. South still struggling to convert superiority into goals but the return of Jon Lo helps.

  10. BTW Walter the South Hobart player in that picture is not a Korean but actually Elliott Lovell

  11. Walter, the player in the foreground for Taroona is Garry Hamilton I believe, new signing from Somerset.

  12. Walter - other Div 1 Result today, Nelson 7, Huonville 1. 3 Goals to Tom Gordon and singles to Bill Hanley,Adam Mills, Patrick Lenck and Will Stalker. Huonville scored from a Penalty

  13. Hopefully huon will not be entering div 1 this year.

  14. Chris Jones should of been sent off for his tackle

  15. Birdman, thanks very much for identifying the player as Elliott Lovell. I have corrected the photo captions. Your assistance is very much appreciated.

  16. Julius, thanks very much for your help in naming the Taroona player. I have named him in the photo caption now. Much appreciated.

Just for everyone's information, Julius and I noticed something strange and confusing today: Several Taroona players had shorts with numbers on them that did not match the numbers on their shirts!

  17. No problem Walter, all thanks are to you - love this blog!

  18. anon 9.04pm - What should he have been sent off for? looked like a strong challenge and noting more from where I was. Did see any elbows or raised arms.

  19. Anon 9.31pm - not a fan of Jonesy but I agree nothing of note in today's game

  22. Anonymous 9.01pm Let's hope Huon Valley's 'Div 1' team doesn't play Div 4 again.

  23. anyone find anything else wrong with taroona they'd like to bring up? Or have we all quite finished?

  25. Muito Obrigado WALTER, fiquei feliz em ver as fotos dos Reservas do South Hobart, principalmente do meu filho Mizael Caires, fazendo gols, valeu mesmo, todos os dias acompanho seu site, muito bom mesmo. Hernane Caires(BRASIL)

  27. Reference the TIS . I notice they have entered a side in Division 1 and also I beleive have arranged to play Premier reserves on Wednesday evenings .

Can some one enlighten me please .

    Reference yesterdays game .

    TIS well disciplined school boys

Metro an admixture of young men, men and elder statesmen whose combined experience and muscle power won the day.

I wouldn't say the better team won but the side that decided they wanted the win came away with the points.

  28. Anonymous, it's simply a 'thank you' note from the father of South Hobart's young Brazilian player, Mizael Caires, because the photos of his son scoring a goal were put on the blog. He follows the blog from Brazil and had been asking if he could see some photos of his boy in some games.

I'm just sorry that I couldn't get better shots of his second goal. They are blurred and taken from too far away. I almost got the first one, which would have been a beauty as it was a superb chip over the keeper and just inside the far post.

  29. Walter the goalscorers for South Hobart vs Eagles were Andy Brennan 2, Mizael 2, Cameron Williams 1, Eliott Lovell 1, Nick Cuthbertson 1 and Seth Otte 1

  30. Gag. Seems a bit unfair to single out 1 player, I think that the lack of quality was throughout the team. The Eagles reserve side looks very inexperienced and were exposed by a team that would compete in the senior league. South double looks like the only outcome this year.

not sure where you be got your info but it is known that TIS are playing premier reserves on weds night, and have not entered Division 1. They soley entered div 1 summer cup to assist FFT with rostering

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anon 3.13pm I only singled out no. 7 as he seemed more intent in starting a fight than playing football. Exactly the type of 'player' Eagles dont need.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Gag Fair enough. I misunderstood your initial post. No young team needs players like that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous (11.24am), I'll take your word for it, but the scorers I got were from the referee. Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  35. that reserve player was peter, not michael snape

    ReplyDelete
  36. Brian Roberts

your comment is somewhat right on the money as they were dominated thoroughly on possession, but having said that, tis found it much too hard to break down the metro defence and fashion any real chances, how can they expect to beat any premier league reserves teams if they cannot beat an apparent "lower" standard div 1 team
raises a few question marks to another of fft's decisions?

    ReplyDelete
  37. gag which no 7 were you talking about??
