  1. Surely Nelson must be thinking they have made the wrong decision in reappointing roach at the start of this year for another 2 years. 5 years in the job, finished mid table every year, will finish 5th this year in a weakened div 1.

I know his fans love talking about his work with juniors, but he has zero results with the senior team over 5 years. If you want to go somewhere Nelson, you need to look at a coach who has the technical ability as well as the qualifications.

  2. metro..3-3 with Southern..lol who's the joke??

  3. What made you say NTE is scouting those 3 mentioned players Walter?

  4. Unless you've actually been in team with Michael Roach then you have absolutely no right to say anything. He knows the game inside out and has trying to get Nelson to play an attractive style of play along the ground. For a number of reasons Nelson have not been getting the results and that is in no way Roach's fault.

  5. Fall on your sword Roach. A team on young guys with some ability deserve better guidance.

  6. Anon 8:05 makes a very good point though anon 9:28. 5 years in the job, no results. A good coach, whilst he may have a style of football he would like his team to play also must take into consideration the personnel he has availble. If your team can't play how you want them to, you have to adjust your style to be successful. He has had no success his way, so surely knowing the game inside and out isnt helping his team??

  7. I saw Nelson play NTE in the cup and it was long ball after long ball??? Hardly attractive and along the ground anon 9:28

  9. why are eagles trying to scout players?

  10. Metro are above Nelson on the ladder (by a bloody long way) so clearly the the guy talking about metro being a joke should check his own team out first, and i agree Anon 9:28 having seen Nelson play this year i agree that roach has tried to get them to play it along the ground, its just a bit hard to do when his players feel the need to pump it long all the time. next thing you'll be telling me that Nelson are pushing for top spot.

  11. Success is also determined by the personnel. Are we to assume that Roach has had a team capable of pushing for top spot over the past 5 years? Probably not. The NTE game was one game and against a premier league opponent so basing your opinion on one game is pointless. I'm just saying, Roach does have the "technical ability", just some areas of the club are letting him down.

  12. valif everyone at nelson is happy, and if nelson are so shit and arrogant annon 10.19. Then why comment. Everyones at nelson is happy and they all love the club. So really who cares what others say, and when we do start to do well i will like to see whos laughing then.

  13. Roach has a very average squad. Honestly, who do they have? A couple of Clarence rejects who wouldn't be able to cut it above division one level, a guy who used to play for Uni reserves who is about as dedicated as Danny Prestage, and Tom Gordon, who may be a decent target man but is well past it. Roach is a decent coach but maybe it's time he moved on to coach somewhere else so he can develop, himself.

  16. People are calling for my head, after seeing a picture of it on Walters site, I'm not sure I want it anymore anyway. In terms of my own position at Nelson, to quote Matthew Knights, "I have every expectation of being in the coaching box next season"!

Thanks for the coverage of the match Walter

    Michael roach

  19. I agreed with Mathew Rhodes
it take time to develop a team
also if you don't have the players, the abilities and skills available to you will limit you full potential to do well, also HUFC had one of the strongest team on the day, that I have seen for a wile which bring me to the point of, if you have the players and abilities you have better chances wining games,
also congratulations to Beachside and Nathan for been a top coach and modesty
