Please fence me in

Photos (Top to Bottom): The penalty area and goal at the opposite end to the highway; Portable goals enable shooting activities away from the highway end of the ground [PlessPix]

Olympia’s new ground seems complete and it will be interesting to watch the first competitive games played there.

The markings certainly look good, but I believe that a high fence needs to be constructed at the highway end to stop balls landing on the road and causing accidents.

Once this fence is constructed, the ground can be used for matches.

Olympia president George Mamacas said the fence would be constructed within the next two weeks.

Training has already commenced at the ground and, from the positioning of the goals shown in these photos, I think that players are only allowed to shoot towards the non-highway end of the ground.

  7. hmmm yes I know, the car is bigger than 2cm also

I believe the ground is something like 61M * 95M which makes it a bit narrow but certainly not the smallest ground.

  14. Fifa states that a football field needs to be 45-90m wide and 90-120m long. To be of international standard (i.e hold international matches) the ground needs to be 60-90m wide and 90-110m long.
So going by someones comment that the ground is 61 by 95 then this means it is of an international standard. So everyone stop complaining that the ground is too narrow

  15. This means then that football can played on a square! 90m x 90m

Touche, I like the fact that you have identifies that the new warrane pitch is of international standard. That should shut all the knockers out there!

Maybe we can try and host an Asian cup game there when we host it next. George just needs to fund some grandstands and possibly lights good enough for TV.
