Olympia win appeal against deduction of 3 points

Olympia Warriors have won their appeal against the deduction of 3 points after it was alleged they played an ineligible player against South Hobart on 19 July 2019.

Olympia beat South Hobart 3-1 at Warrior Park, but they were in danger of losing the 3 points because it was alleged that Lucas Hill should not have played.

I communicated with Olympia president George Mamacas when he was in Las Vegas recently and he said he was confident that his club would win the appeal and retain the 3 points.

That is exactly what has happened this evening.

Mamacas returned from overseas last week and the appeal was heard this evening by a panel of three, chaired by Craig Green, a lawyer.

“I’m happy to report that there was a tribunal hearing at Football Tasmania tonight and that we presented our case and at the end of it we were told that our appeal had been upheld,” Mamacas said.

“The decision was in our favour and Olympia Warriors will keep its 3 points from the win against South Hobart.

“The chairman will be writing a report, so I cannot reveal any further details at this time.

“Interested parties will have to wait until the chairman’s report is released to find out more details.

"Some members of the football public questioned our integrity, but I am happy to say we've proved them wrong."

The current league standings are listed below as teams go into the final round of games on Saturday.

  1. George If you think this resolves your clubs integrity issues your more delusional than I thought ..... you're resignation would be a good start give the decent people at the club an opportunity to rebuild the clubs integrity as it's on life support at the moment

  2. Irrelevant in the end. Didn't win the League, didn't win Challenge and didn't win the u18s.

  3. Give it away George. Your treatment of people is disgusting.
Your club deserves better. The thing is done of the people at your club
have developed a similar lack of respect for others when they are in and around
    the club.
    The club needs a change.

Yes this is why the club has grown so much since 2010 when Mamacas took over. Because of all the points you make. Get a life. You are proven to be wrong by the fact of how the club is today compared what the club was pre Mamacas. I see massive growth in all areas over a decade. You have no clue and just read like the unintelligent twit you are.

Very jealous blogger. That cannot speak the truth and want to spin the hate with nonsense.
    I pray for you.

  8. Either Olympia stuffed up in the 1st place or FT stuffed up afterwards. Either way a poor advert for administration of our game in Tasmania. I look forward to hearing what the tribunal based their decision on. Why did this take 7 weeks to resolve ?

  13. Where is the final word of this from FT? Why has this taken so long ? Who is on the tribunal and how are they elected to it ? How can a rule in black and white not apply in this instance ? Are FT going to give us any answers ?
