  1. Riverside a disgrace again. Haven’t improved abit. Only decent players Gedi and Nash. Thuggery at anew level this season. Coach has a lot to answer for. And great example the import player showing to their young players and the rest of the comp with his behaviour. He will get a nice long extended holiday in Tas for that

  2. Absolute clown show at Clarence Zebras. The whole board that approved the merge should be ashamed at what they did to a club with the history it had.

    2. Give it up. Your constant posts are getting boring.

    3. Mate there is more than one person hanging shit on Clarence and they deserve it.
      No respect for their player.
Board lives in its own little world.

  3. League is so so boring.

    Same every year

  4. I still shake my head as how riverside were able to keep themselves in the NPL over some other teams who would have offered a more competitive games instead of a whimper.

Same with Launceston United and zebras, but then again, we know that an FT representative had zebras safe before any other club when it comes to maintaining their NPL status.

  5. When will FT understand and realise that it's not about how well you can complete a nomination form for NPL but what a club is able to do not only on the park with results, but also playing style and what they can offer entertainment and competitiveness and some dignity to a so called national competition.

As harsh as this is, there is only room for one competitive team from Launceston.

    1. I don’t think it’s harsh and as a Launceston player it’s rare to converse with another Launceston player who doesn’t agree with what you say.

  6. Have to agree! Just look at Launceston City. They are also a shambles and have been since they put Dyson at the helm. Some members thoughts are warranted now.

  7. Scrap the state league. In both NPL / WSL - It’s a shambles

    1. Have to agree. AFL Tas are being smart and scrapping the state league for regional again after this year. The standard of the NPL is on the decline each year. If you’re a good young player you’re not going to play in the NPL Tas, you’re moving to the big island or beyond let’s face it.

    2. Players in the women's league won't travel, there are players playing WSL that would be lucky to get a champs game 9 years ago.
The coaches are poor quality especially in WSl .
Maybe the Devonport one is ok the rest are rubbish.

  8. Let’s be honest , as I’ve said before !!! We are a small State not only our code football but also AFL, at the moment both codes are going backwards for many reasons !!! Population $$$$$$$ and running the Comp , our local paper has no info no results involving our game , so so sad compared to many years ago ,,,,,my thoughts are ,,, back to a Northern & Southern Comp with a Summer Cup and end of the year play off from the 2 teams that have won their comp , from Southern side and the Northern side , less travelling , Clubs will make more $$$$ gate and canteen , many players don’t won’t to travel for many reasons ???? Yes I’m going backwards but common sense provides ??? Many years ago 1 person controlled the Comp and if I my say it was a much much stronger Comp then what we have at the moment by fare , I strongly believe in youth up to under 17 comp a Reserve Comp and To flight Comp , ….. plus all the others Div & over age and a lot more !!!!!!that’s women. & Men I’m just one person with my thoughts that loves the game and not worried about filling my pockets with $$$$ but instead to see our code go stronger and much more ,,,, PS if your are providing the right structure the right attitude and the right coaching to our youth ,,, by all means you deserve to be paid ,,,, at the moment we have coaches that have no idea about what it takes to be a coach !!! And that’s from our youth to our top flight ????? Ha it has to be told it has to be pinpointed and more important just sit back and think , are we doing the right thing for the Game , players and spectators because all I see is the cake is sliced and eaten by many that have no direction no experience and money hungry ….that will do , enough said , !!!!!

  9. Do any of you ever tire of being so negative all the time?

  10. United v Port game has very strange numbers. Was there some reason like a Friday bucks night or pre game tiff or is this just tas Npl doing its thing.

  11. Why oh why do the same people (obviously) keep bagging CZebras & Riverside & Lanie United. It’s getting to the stage where it’s tarnishing Walter’s fabulous blog. So CZebras lost yesterday 3-1 to South. No big deal here. And yet Launie City lost 4-0 to knights. I don’t see anyone saying Launie City are rubbish. And how about the start of Devonport/Launie United? Ok, Devonport won but well done on United’s 4-0 start to the game. As it’s only round 2, is it too much to ask to let some of these NPL teams play the game without such childish negativity. Show some respect to Walter Pless for his lifetime of dedication to football with positive criticism not negative kindergarten remarks

  12. I agree with the negative comment - its football, apart from Salary capped leagues most leagues in the world have dominant teams and weak teams, this season might be open at the top with Knights and South starting well and yeah River got a red card early then got smashed, it happens sometimes.. At least Utd pushed Dev this week.

That said, 3 clubs from Launnie strikes as one too many - always felt to me as more of an aussie rules town but a 5th team in Hobart (old Clarence Utd, Olympia in its non cashed up format, current Taroona WSL) was just about as bad- just going to have to cope with a few big losses every now unless you want an uneven 7 team comp and a bye with less variety or run in to issues around grounds/club sustainability in a promotion/relegation format.

  13. The standard on all fronts is alarming. Including refereeing.
I think going regional is a good idea.
There’s a statewide cup and there could be a preseason state comp too.
    Enough is enough

    1. You here to be part of the solution or just another one of the issues in any aspect of the game.
I’m sure FT wouldn’t say no to a referee here or there with your skill level 🤦‍♂️
