Leaders Devonport City retained a 2-point advantage over second-placed South Hobart in the Women’s Super League with a 2-1 away win over fourth-placed Kingborough Lions United at Lightwood Park.

Lucy Foote and Whitney Knight did the damage, while Danielle Kannegiesser’s goal for the Lions on the hour had given the home side a glimmer of hope.

South Hobart improved their goal-difference with a 9-0 thrashing of Riverside Olympic at home at South Hobart Oval.

It could have been 10-0, but South Hobart sportingly deliberately missed a penalty, awarded when a Riverside Olympic defender handled on the goal-line and was sent off.

Newcomers to the competition, Glenorchy Knights, beat Taroona 3-0 at Lightwood Park on Sunday with goals from Sarah Bolonja, an own goal by Taroona keeper Isolina Ottavi, and Jemima Brown.
