I’m not that surprised that Devonport are not playing as a team. On the live stream we could all hear their coach constantly abusing his players. Not the way to get the best out of your players I’d think.
Northern soccer can’t be this bad! River and united would be 6th and 7th in the old northern championship. Name one local player they have developed that would start for south?
The players they have brought in again are average who does the recruitment? Bringing kids from opposing NPL teams with the promise of playing absolute disgrace
The constant berating and hassling from the south hobart supporters to the referee doesn't make for a very welcome environment, why can't people just cheer for their team it was nearly as bad as KGV that first half today.
I was in the stands and the heckling was disgusting those young men need their president to remind the code of conduct for supporters at games I certainly will be reluctant to return and spend my money if it continues
can someone please explain the indirect freekick in Dev v Kin, at about the 14 minute mark the ref gives an indirect freekick in the box for a high boot, shouldn't it have been a penalty?
It’s a interesting one this as when you read on the rules it states if there is contact made it’s a penalty but if just a high boot and no contact it’s a direct free kick, never seen that before
The irony of saying refs have no idea, when you’re actually the idiot who doesn’t know the rules, is hilarious. Grab the whistle mate - see how long you last. Refs keeps the game going
Knowing the rules and Applying the rules are two very different things. Common sense, game play, and tactical advantage is very hard to teach those who have not played.
So that’s your excuse for not knowing the actual rule - common sense? 😂 If there’s no contact, it’s not a penalty = it’s an indirect free kick. Ref got it spot on. Just admit you didn’t know, no need to hide behind “common sense” when the rule is literally clear. The irony of calling it out, and being wrong, still makes me laugh - especially from someone who make it sound like they've 'played the game'
Would love to hear about why only an including studs up on keeper. yellow card for the intentional handball by the keeper outside rhe box with striker bearing down. And why so many blatant yellow cards not given by that referee to port players including studs up on keeper
Every time I am worried about the quality of the referees I come here and read some of these comments. Fair to say there could be much worse options than the current bunch!

No bidwell. No Port. no idea.
Lonny United. Go back to Nothern Champ. Save yourself the embarrassment. Things will only get worse from here.
You should be glad for united being in the comp or else people would be saying this about riverside
Tom can focus on the wsl now
I thought it was a competitive game. Remember river stole there imports to improve from 6th to 6th

Got river to win by 2+ goals at 2.40 once I heard about the imports leaving. Thanks for the tip Jordan muller

They had one playing for Melbourne city tonight
One starting in NPL Victoria for Heidelberg
silly comment. there has been many fletcher fulton or yitay towns, both are doing well in NPL VIC
Wheels have fallen off at Port. Arguing between players on the pitch. Nothing up front. Bye bye port. Lucky to finish 4th.
Where was Noah Curtis from the Kingborough game?

Ladder positions looking very likely at end of season to be :
South
Lonny City
Kingborough
Knights
Port
Rest are rubbish
He is the best referee. Thanks goodness it wasn’t someone else doing the game

If you’re upset by any young people heckling a referee or opposition players maybe watch at home with the TV on mute…

It's not acceptable at other venues but acceptable at Darcy St?
Let’s not pretend it’s comparable to the drunk grown men at KGV every week. You’re upset at teenagers getting excited here.
I'm sorry but abuse is abuse, if you think it's acceptable you're a hypocritical individual.

No idea why it wasn’t a penalty, refs have no idea in this state. Whoever runs the training needs to changed and everyone retrained.
High boot without contact = plays in a dangerous manner = indirect free kick
Why was the 2nd half Devonport goalkeeper handball outside the box not given a red card?
Pretty similar to this one:

Why was the late studs up tackle on the Kingborough goalkeeper in the first half not given a yellow card?

Except it wasn't a high boot. The defenders foot was waist high. The attacker had been pushed whilst attempting to challenge for the ball.
So the foul was a push. In the back.
Which is a penalty.
So it is all about common sense, applying the rules and reading the game.
