  1. We need to have a serious conversation about the officiating in Tasmania at present. A thankless job, but nevertheless, broadly the worst I’ve seen in Tassie in the last 20 years.

Really the only way to change is for people to start and continue to call it for what it is.

    2. Good job by coad I thought. Any chance river can instil some discipline into their players. Bit hard when the coach leads from the front I guess

    3. The problem starts at the top. Needs some changes to improve the refereeing direction

    4. South seems to get away with a lot every weekend compared to other teams in regards bookable offences.

  2. What kind of punishment can be expected for Bidwell from today’s game? Don’t like seeing those actions in our game. Especially at the top level

    1. Huge blow to his Medal chances, or do they still award them if you’re sent off these days? Had to have been one of the big favourites up till now!

    2. Leaving in June, anyway heading to the UK to play according to a few.

    3. Sad to see Bidwell react like he did - such a decent player. He will be missed while serving his ban. I got 7 weeks for doing the same thing 50 years ago. I hope he gets less than that !. Nobody likes getting kicked.

  3. Riverside have some serious discipline issues. Been like that for several years. They have no structure and play like thugs.

  4. Probably 6 games suspension for that, not sure why the Riverside player was sent off, is he not allowed to protect his face if a player jumps on him? Couldn’t have been for the foul as the referee restarted with a drop ball.

  5. Horrendous tackle by that Riverside kid. Just watched the replay. No wonder the Port player reacted like he did

  6. Bidwell gets 6 reduced to 4 on appeal
Riverside player will get 2 for being first to retaliate
How many does Devonport skipper get on review ?

  7. Another week another red card for riverside.

  8. So Glenorchy Knights have lost Clover and Morris what is happening inside those walls .

Devonport Strikers loss Bidwell seems it’s South Title to lose in 2025 .

Every one else in self implode mode !

    1. Hardly champ,Knights are in third and Devonport are still in it they will recruit heavily in June as they always do with their coach, goes through players like they are going out of fashion, South also looked vulnerable yesterday.

    2. Glover left due to work commitments and Morris due to a disciplinary issue. Knights still in with a shout. I would not write Devonport off either. Taylor leaving Lannie City for Queensland in the window.

    3. Haha you’re very ill informed on Glover so watch this space and no idea on Taylor but highly doubt it as most players are now on pro contracts.

    4. Without Angus they might struggle at city he’s been a key player in their system…

    5. If you had the chance, why would you stay in Tas and play? Morton should have stayed on the big island. He will regret staying in TAS. No one cares NPL league

  9. Need to raise this again but I’d like to get peoples and of course your input Walter on npl teams having teams in champ and champ 1 .. ( sth of the state ) my personal take is it should t happen or we get two things that we are seeing now - one a club like Clarence simply cant do it and are fielding squads that simply are social players 11-2 to taroona sums that up - and even their group of “ friends” in champ 1 who mostly could be playing champ or higher are still loosing !!! Or we get the south Hobart ( we want more players as back up so we will promise lots and deliver little ) reducing the depth of the champ comp

Personally I like to see Fft grow a set and make a call that will help the game in the long term

My idea of state league is to survive
    State league = npl & 21s
    Southern champ = senior team and 18s ( 3 u21s ) ( no champ 1)
Div 2 - champ teams who want to put a team in and then the barnies , dosa etc npl social teams ( but with 2/3 player movement restrictions to prevent stacking )
    Div 3 etc etc
Play Div 2 down on sundays

North needs to stay similar to what they have ( I also don’t have knowledge of the set up )

I think the above could also set up the potential to move towards promotion and relegation

    Thoughts ???

    1. Floored logic using the Southern Championship example here - look at the average age of South’s Champ team they put out. Basically another U/20’s team with a couple of guys barely in their 20’s. Clarence are on the complete opposite end of the spectrum altogether. Can’t blame South’s academy kids for not wanting to leave!

    2. Just on this; the current social league set up is a farce as it stands. The combining of Div 1/2 due to only having 4 Div 1 teams and combining to make those teams happy is ruining the ‘social aspect’. Teams like Dosa and Nelson who are genuine social clubs are getting belted week in, week out by Div 1 sides. One result I saw that made me wonder about the league merger; Metro (a championship quality team) 18-0 vs Zebras genuine Div 2 social side.

Something needs to be done about this.

  11. South Hobart should sign all the players then they can be the best and win everything by playing with themselves in NPL WSL and all other grades.
