Gripes...

I have a few gripes.

I’ve been holding off airing them but it now mid-week and I can’t hold my fire any longer.

First, what is going on with DRIBL.

Here we are Wednesday and out of the four cup finals played on the long weekend, two remain blank with no details such as actual result, scorers and line-ups.

The referees are responsible for completing these details so two whistlers obviously haven’t done their job.

Surely, part of their pay must depend on completing the details of the games they referee?

This poor and not up to scratch. Someone has to be held accountable.

*****

 Good on the Socceroos.

They won 2-1 away in Saudi Arabia overnight to qualify for their sixth successive World Cup Finals.

It’s becoming the norm and Football Australia can be proud of the fact.

But, how many of us got to see the game?

Surely, if Football Australia is serious about promoting the game and increasing it popularity, it should have been screened on free-to-air so that Aussie fans could watch the game live.

I realise there are all sorts of deals that cover live soccer, but if Football Australia is serious about promoting the game and the Socceroos, they should have ensured live coverage.

And, hasn’t coach Tony Popovic turned things around.

I think it may have been struggle to qualify directly in Graham Arnold was still in charge.

He is now coaching Iraq and lost his first match in charge 3-0 to South Korea.

*****

How England, the birthplace of the game of football, has fallen.

They just squeezed home against Andorra 1-0 on the weekend and lost 3-1 at home to Senegal a few days later.

Just as a reminder, Andorra is smaller than Tasmania.

It has a population of 80,856 (smaller than Hobart or Launceston) and an area of just 468 square kilometres.

England’s new German coach, Thomas Tuchel, has his work cut out.

DRIBL might be the single most frustrating app I've ever used. Yet somehow it's the only place (other than this fantastic blog) with any information about the NPL & WSL

Thank goodness for you Walter. !!
The refereeing Department needs a major overhaul

It should be spelt DRIBBLE , not DRIBL. Absolutely pathetic.

Actually, it’s just a load of drivel.

Love it when you go on a controlled and balanced rant. Good to hear what you actually think. Please do it more often.

Agree.....I gave up using DRIBL last year,as it's too hard to find results etc on it. Going by the comments it hasn't improved.

If we are talking gripes. Devonport Junior Soccer Association hosted a hugely successful Devonport Cup last weekend and not one sign of acknowledgment from Football Tas.

I beg to differ.
DJSA had under 10's who play 9-aside games playing on 7-aside pitches with a futsal sized goal. It ruined the integrity of the games, too many players playing in a shoebox.

DJSA must have missed your email to be on their committee and help run such a huge event.
Weak as piss comment.

Think England always get the easy route to major competitions. Largely full of good international players and no world class guys since hoddle. Le tissier and Gascogne. Too many of the same ilk to get the best balance and combination to get it right. Sideways and boring passing games instilled to not make mistakes. The recent nations league games between France Spain Portugal and Germany shows how far behind they are.
Agree with Arnold being replaced by popovic who has a bit of savvy to get there with limited quality. Your whinges are well justified.
