If anyone thinks that South won the final as a result of Sean Collins' refereeing, then they are completely disregarding the fact that South played them off the park...and would have done so no matter the referee.

I don't think that there is any doubting that South Hobart were the better team tonight although I think that the 4-0 score line flattered them a little. As a neutral observer its easy to see that they are a class above everyone else at the moment when it comes to fitness, squad depth and general play. I must say though that while it had no real impact on the result, the refereeing was extremely poor tonight and favoured South Hobart big time. If that is the best that Tassie has to offer then we are in major trouble. I find it quite amazing that Kim Barker ran a line tonight when he is a class above the muppet that did the senior game. But I guess that when you control the appointments you can give yourself the big games!

COME ON SOUTH HOBART COME ON, COME ON, COME ON SOUTH HOBART COME ONNNNNNN, KNIGHTS, hehehe.

South deserved the win tonight with Knights never really in the hunt. Given the banter in the lead up to the game the end result was a a bit of a disappointment really. Although I must agree with some of the other Anon posters that the referee was terrible tonight and favoured South. It didn't have any impact on the result but it was clear for all to see. If the Knights are the 2nd best team in the league then South will win it by a mile.

Good win to South tonight and did it easy in the end. The Knights had a few chances in the first half but not much after that. As a contest it turned out to be a little bit disappointing really. There is no doubt that South are the team to beat this year and at this stage look like going back to back quite easy. It seems like a common theme, but must agree with other posts in that the Sean was terrible as a referee tonight. I guess that it is only pre-season for him too so one would hope that he can only get better (although not holding my breath on that one).

Rumour has it that the Referee's appointment for the final tonight were based on who wears the best head band. Turns out Sean won it as he is the only one who does. The women love it and it got him a final so it was a win win situation for him. Expect to see others like Kim and Ivan wearing headbands in the coming weeks!

Word on the street is that there was no hot water in the showers after the game so players had to have a cold shower. From what I hear FFT spend so much time trying to get sponsorship for Sean's headband that they forgot to turn on the hot water system. South also missed out on getting presented a trophy too because of the headband sponorship issue!

Back on the issue people. South way too good for Knights tonight. Passing and movement was just a class above in comparison to the opposition. Could nearly even hand South the trophy for winning the league now although the big issue will be how does Kenny keep all of his stars happy. Will be hard to give them all enough game time in the seniors during the seniors.

Oh, and must agree, referee was terrible tonight

Anonymous said...

Rumour has it that Liam "Dave Carney" Scott gave Kenny an ultimatum that if he didn't play the whole game that he would leave the club. I'm not sure that it would be such a major loss given his performance tonight, but it's certainly something for South to think about. Could be a few on their way during the course of the season if they are not kept happy.

congrats to south on the win and knights to improve on this.
jerrie i did use stamps but i steamed em off an old package hoping post office didnt notice -- dang it they did and customs siezed the pink shorts so there lost to us both now haha

we were outclassed simple as that, refereeing did not alter that fact, but my lord was it terrible? all respect to gary upton who is the hardest man in the league, congratulations to south who were better than us in every department, hope we will get it together for the next time we play!

Anonymous said...

what was wrong with hte refereeing. Thought Sean kept control of the game and if South looked favoured was prbly cos they were in fornt all the time and not 2nd best to the ball.

The girls game was boring as a contest but hats off to Edo for putting together a side who passed the ball extremely well. U could see the difference when they boys went out tho the tempo was 5* greater. south would beat TIS girls 20-0 at a canter.

dear Walter, can you please stop deleting very good humor posts please, if only people could read such posts in the early hours of sunday morning they would get a laugh, even if the posts are a bit over the top, pleaseeeeeeeeee.

Fair result last night, 1st 90min game for Knights I expected South to dominate as they have been playing together for a few months now.

Kosta by far the best striker in the league he showed his class last night.

Can't see South losing too many games this year.

TURN IT UP... humble pie... blah South were better yeah, but the knights were not on there A-game. Seriously none of them, I was frustrated watching! Fish showed heart, also danny, but with corey sprouting off, Army never in the game, Holmes looking tired, blonde shermen looking not interested in the 2nd half... plus formation changes every 20 mins didn't help. pushing poo uphill already!
4-0 wasn't a true indication, some basic keeping errors with the last two goals, Tatnell needs some positioning training... from were i was at the bottom end goals the wall was clearly set up on the wrong post. Maybe ben could get out of the coaches box and do better elsewhere. Big wake up call for some of them, i'll be the 1st to tell them. Season will be closer than last nights result.

i think that the funniset thing out of all of this is that its the summer cup south havent won any leauge title yet, and as for winning everything in there 100th year come on guys you have only won what 3 premierships in 100 years thats terrible, plus none of them are state leauge titles, once the money dries up morton will move on and it will be back to normal, plus with your ressies winning so easy i can see a number of them moving to other clubs to make there seniors stronger especially with morton bringing all these players over and it will only be good for the leauge

at the end of the day south ended up being the better team but sean made it easier for them some of the decisions honestly were terrible we know south think that they are the manchester united of this league but theres no need to put crap refs on the field that wil favour south everytime it just spoils the game and the idiot that keeps writing on this blog in swaheely could you please stop no1 as a clue wat your writing and this is the most pissed up comment ive ever wrote

Sean is a bloody disgrace. How he managed to get the final, we will all never know. Ivan, Kim, even Pat Galloway?! An absolute disgrace.

Anonymous said...

Now hold on, 90 minutes was always going to hurt the Knights. Why isnt the final 30 each half? South have not stopped training. If they didnt win by that margin, it would have been disappointing for them. South will not dominate the year, i assure you that. Once all teams get the fitness going, that will be the real indicator.

Anonymous said...

haha which game were you all at. South dominated. full stop. sherman, fielding, koroma, smith, all had terrible games, hugi at the back with holmes kept the score line under 10. The knights keeper, well maybe tom sherman should have been in the sticks maybe would have showed bit of heart.
Kosta showed his class, Beecroft, Ladic, Hickey, Upton solid and won the centre of the park battle, Knights shooting from half way at times? shows desperation. Refereeing was debatable, but cant take away from a well drilled south unit.

Drop Tatnell. Danny White needs to be played outfront, to soft in middle. Googs old, Corey CB replacement. Alot of work to do for Eamon.

first comp of the season and first outburst of whining excuses. anyone who thinks you can become the best team by being fit are real 24 carrot knobs.

I wanted to hear some objective comments but again only excuses and people displaying negative bias towards the winners.

this blog has become the knights pre game bravado and post game excuses blog.

get a bit of dignity and use a bit of self assessment and don't air your biased opinions it shows a lack of class.

Anonymous said...

why is a team not fit at this part of the season? what do they do at training?

are they so amatuer they use competition matches to get fit enough to play.

it's beyond belief.

Yoda said...

Hhhmmm me thinks it is an amatuer competition.

Anon 3.26 agree i do. Too much talk from knights people.

South Deserved winners. Undoubtabl they were. B.Beercroft best he was.

fact
south have won approx 20 odd premierships in their 100 years and more trophies than most clubs.

also why would players leave for other clubs remember they have met them and know what to expect.

just accept mediocrity I don't think so.

South class above. Sean terrible referre who shouldn't do anymore games. Ever! End of story!

Anonymous said...

Only person who thinks the ref was any good was the ref himself. He was totally incompentent. The sooner he goes back to making appointments as appose to appointinging himself the better off we will be. Unfortunatately can't see it happening too much in the future though and I expect to see Sean in the centre of quite a number of games this year. Sorry to say that will ruin many a game but on the plus side, Sean will feel really good about himself!

Anonymous said...

Grundy definately looked a bit off his game last night although I don't think he was helped by the formation or some of the players around him. He definately wasn't the worst on the pitch by a long shot but has been around a very long time and it will be interesting to see how many senior games he plays this year. I think that he can do a very good job for the Knights and be a key part of their defence. I don't think that putting Corey in defence will be the answer for the Knights (anon 2.08) but it remains to be seen what Kelly will do with his formation and team selections. It certainly wasn't the Knights best game last night so I wouldn't read too much into individual performances.

Anonymous said...

South dominated although I didn't even realise that John Ladic played until I read the report that said he scored. I presume he was the larger individual in the centre of the park for South Hobart (or was that Sean). Didn't do much at all and may be in for a long season of getting splinters in his backside.

Anonymous said...

Anon 6.04.

Must say that I also thought that Ladic looked a tad overweight and did nothing while he was on. Once the season starts I can't see him getting too many starts for South and I wouldn't be surprised if he moves on during the year. On a positive note, good win by the South boys and they are definately the team to beat this year.

Yoda said...

Hmmm, Ladic scores a goal in a winning final team, did his midfield role. Harsh it is to criticise.

Anon 6.04 and 6.10 foolish you have been.

hopefully knights can lift this week, but will be without jackson marsh for two weeks for selection, as he injured his neck on the curly's dancefloor on sat night
