Devonport should go back to the top of NPL Tasmania standings today

Devonport City should regain top spot on the NPL Tasmania standings by beating seventh-placed Launceston City today [Saturday].

The game is at Valley Road, the home of Devonport City, at 4.15pm.

Devonport lost top spot to Olympia Warriors, who beat Glenorchy Knights 3-1 on Anzac Day.

The North-West Coast outfit, who are the reigning champions, suffered their first loss last Monday when they went down 2-1 away to Hobart Zebras at KGV Park.

They showed serious defensive deficiencies in that game, but they are unlikely to encounter a powerful attack when they face Launceston City.

City depend a lot on Noah Mies and if Devonport can muzzle him, they should coast to victory.

To complete the round, sixth-ranked Kingborough Lions United host bottom side Clarence United at 6pm today [Saturday] at Lightwood Park.

Kingborough have been less than impressive this season but they should be too strong for Clarence, who have conceded 59 goals this season.

Clarence have scored just once, and that was from the penalty spot last week when they won their first match.

They beat second-last Riverside Olympic 1-0 at home at Wentworth Park to break their duck.

They will have gained some confidence from that win, but they will struggle against the Lions.
