Hell of a game, decided by a cracker of a goal. Brikic, the left back for Knights extremely unlucky to be sent of, 2nd yellow, with a minute left to play in extra time. Apparently for time wasting whilst taking a throw in. Means he will miss the final. There where multiple incidents of fouls by a player already booked and no action, a Devonport player throwing himself to the ground theatrically trying for a free kick and nothing and he sends a player of for time wasting in the last minute incredibly. Another peculiar incident was when the ref stopped play when a Devonport player got a knock in the face and was bleeding. Fair enough, but at the stop of play Devonport had possession of the ball not far from the corner flag very close to the by line, in other words at a very sharp angle to goal, however he restarts play with the drop ball not far outside the penalty box near the top corner at a very friendly angle. Pushed the Glenorchy defender well back, dropped the ball nicely for the Devonport player who half volleyed a good solid shot directly at goal. He had no perception that he’d given the Strikers a direct opportunity at goal from the drop ball, I would have also thought the convention would have been that the strikers take the easy possession from the drop ball knock it backwards and restart their attacking possession. At stop of play they had not been in a shooting position but where given a distinct advantage.

I believe the missed game for the red card would be in the next competitive game, which would be the league game.

You have shown here that you don’t understand the suspensions rules and don’t really understand the other rules as well

@7:51 jokes on you for not knowing cup rules. Maybe check the rules and regulations before having a crack.
“6.2 Red Cards
For the Preliminary Rounds, the minimum sanctions set out in the National Disciplinary
Regulations must be applied by FT to red card offences and to expulsion offences for
Players and Team Officials.
Red Card suspensions incurred in an Australia Cup match will apply to the next match in
which the suspended player or team official’s Club competes in.
Red card suspensions incurred in a Local Competition Match will apply to the next Match
in which the suspended Players Club competed in, which may include an Australia Cup Match.”

Thanks for the correction on the suspension, my bad.

Today was not an Australia cup match, it was a lakosejac cup match. He will miss a league fixture and be available for the cup final.

8:50 - thanks for proving my point a second time

Just curious what the laws are here. Is there a rule for how quickly the ball needs to be thrown in? I didn't think there was? And in the event of 'excessive time-wasting', isn't time just added on?

Genuinely curious. Feel this is a case of the Ref making himself look important here (Cue dev supporters).

Had no effect on the game move on !

"Delaying the restart of play" is a standard yellow card offense. There is no time set down in the laws for how long you can take with a throw-in. Usually a referee will tell a player to get on with it if they are taking too long - if they still take their time they open themselves up to a yellow card. The closer to the end of the game the more likely they are to cop a yellow.

I heard Stefan Cordwell was ‘monumental’? Can anyone confirm this for me?

@1148 the Lakoseljac cup games are considered preliminary rounds of the Australia Cup and are subject to Australia Cup Supplementary rules. The Australia Cup rules state that the player will miss the next match in which the team competes in ie league game.

8:50,
Can’t wait to see him play the finals vs Knights.
I’ll come back to you on the 10th just to prove your lack of Knowledge.

"Had no affect on the game move on"
You sound just like a referee. That's is exactly how they justify themselves.
It's totally missing the point is it.

How Bidwell stayed on the pitch is beyond me. Referee hands out a 2nd yellow for ‘time wasting’ but no 2nd yellow for a blatant foul that broke up an attack. Inconsistency

Big Stefan Cardwell fan me. He was great

In respect to Brikic send off for time wasting, from the time the ball went out to the Ref blowing his whistle and giving him his second yellow, was 7 seconds. Time wasting my arse, just a man trying to influence the game. 4 minutes of extra time in one 15 minute extra half. It’s just not right.

Are you ok? I hope now you can move on. Mistakes can be made

Don't agree. Good to see refs cracking down on time wasting - a blight on the modern game.

Anonymous said...

But he wasn't time wasting it was an official that was over zealous to make a caution

Anonymous said...

Who would have thought a ref adding time for injuries and a goal, how dare he.

Anonymous said...

It can't be time wasting if the ref adds the time back on. The additional time rule makes time wasting redundant

Let's hope Lions win the final so we aren't embarrassed by the Knights rent a team.
