Who are the best young upcoming players for each NPL club?

Is southern champ as good as NPL?

Can we just say how disappointing it was the crowd for the last game.
North West Coast people you had your chance and the obligation to support this game and you didn't. Hopefully we don't see another final there unless it's just north or NW teams. Why is the camera still on the side of the pitch that looks into the sun for parts of the game and at an angle that doesn't cover an area of the pitch all this led to a poor production of the final.
The football community can now see you don't like to travel... to hobart, launceston or even down the road if your team isn't in it.

Very good Women's cup final for the first hour.
WSL take note that is the intensity and physicality needed for an interesting game. If you want it go and do it and people will watch.
Davies being used in midfield instead of ST is a bad call, best striker and not being used to accommodate White and Mamic

Haha oh dear. You having a bad day? Couldn’t make a 3 hour trip. Too far? You legs hurt sitting down for that long. It’s the best facility in the state by a mile.

Disappointing that the live stream started late for the women’s game.
Camera and microphone volume issues too.
Not like it was an important weekend to get those bits right.
On a positive note, the commentary was excellent for both games though.

That surface is not and the camera angle is not, looks like the people living 30 minutes away didn't travel. Hobartians are not the problem.

Anonymous said...

As someone at the game we thought the crowd was great for both teams and plenty of Devonport people stayed to watch

Anonymous said...

Awh is someone sad they didn’t travel past Campbelltown? Women game had a decent crowd!

Anonymous said...

I think ,.Morton knows his real problem is in the Midfield, slow and lacking skills.,so tried someone different.
His backs are suspect as well, good forwards but let down with poor service

Anonymous said...

Agree was one of the lowest grand final crowds ever poor show .

Anonymous said...

Let me get this right.

A final with two teams who are not Devonport and you are complaining that the Port fans weren’t there watching ? Why an earth weren’t you there … surface was far better than most grass pitches in the state only Boros is as good, name another better grass surface … lazy and moaning surprise surprise … and Hobart people are the issue as when Devonport play in a final the grandstand is full of Devonport fans so go figure

Anonymous said...

Anon 10.06 thanks for making my point
Devonport people were very loud about hearing complaints from people down south saying the final should be moved because no one would go. It was their chance to show they'll support football and they didn't.
The reality is in Hobart people go to other games.

I got ripped in last weeks thread for saying the NPL is declining.

Championship team loses to 'best NPL team in state' by a goal, in front of no crowd, with poor broadcasting.. sums it up, doesn't it?

Anonymous said...

Truth.

Anonymous said...

It’s a strange call considering your last sentence of Hobart people go to other games… where were they?

Anonymous said...

Agree no team photos on FT Facebook Page very poor coverage it’s not up to mark for the money spent !

Anonymous said...

That’s such a contradiction, Hobart people go to games but didn’t bother when they have to travel and it’s 2 southern sides playing ? The comments are mainly from Devonport players and fans who have been to probably 6/7 finals on a Monday in a Hobart and never moaned about it once. Pathetic comments tbh best stadium in the state by a mile and surface and yet armchair fans moan about it btw I was there at the game so can have some validation in my comments unlike someone moaning who’s watching it via stream ..

Anonymous said...

Haha lies. Hobart people do not. They complain when they have to go past Bridgewater to events

Not at all, The main difference between SEU and the NPL sides is probably the fact they are all majority men, like Devonport in 2016 a side full of physical men, SEU carried a fairly effective mid block, Coverage wise apart from some sunshine on the feed which actually happens all over the world the commentary and venue was superb the grandstand is the best the state has ever had along with Boro it’s really positive. just because you probably no longer play or involved doesn’t mean the games died football moves quickly, The fact that more Hobart people didn’t attend is on them tbh. Northerners are not fair weather fans and will follow their team.

@1006 - boro, hobart city, riverside, taroona, university and SEU all have better grass pitches. Launny city and utd on a par. Only sth and Clarence worse than dport. Outstanding new grandstand, albeit in the wrong position. 6 million misplaced dollars.

As most would know the best Southern Championship team is generally always good enough to beat half the NPL teams in a one off cup game they would just find it difficult to do it week after week and a lot of their players play in their comp due to not wishing to travel around the state every second week.

South East did great but were never really seriously a chance of winning with a second goal in the last few seconds but did show more grit and effort than half the NPL teams so credit to them.

Anonymous said...

Clearly KGV is best surface which you know that's why you didn't mention it and then Kingborough is second at best Valley road is 3rd and Riverside is on par sorry to break your heart.
You guys stuffed it up you know it that's why you are hurt by the thread.

With the players South signed this season I am very suprised on their performances this season

Yes they are unbeaten but they should be beating a team like South East by more than a goal and thats no disrespect to South East but they are a team made up of ex NPL players well past their prime

Stand looks great in the port

Anonymous said...

Seriously 17 games undefeated this year and your disappointed with their season. Remember SEU defeated the team placed second on the NPL ladder, they are a decent team.

Anonymous said...

Performance or not they are still unbeaten so doesn’t really matter, Port spent big knights also spent big and non of them sides are near SH.

Watched the last 10 minutes of the ladies game, went and made a cuppa & when I got back about half the crowd had gone. They never returned for the main event !. Not a great camera position into the sun. Glad they turned off the crowd effects mike in the second half. A certain assistant coach was very load Again !. Nice looking misplaced grandstand.

So third best surface (second best grass surface) but has the best facilities and stand. not hurt at all I just think it’s easy to point how bad it is when you didn’t even attend. Every level of football has a different venue for games too just because it’s not in Hobart doesn’t mean it’s awful, The most successful team has come from the NW of the state for the last decade traveled the most and never ever moaned about playing on a Monday. Think to cup games at valley road 2k there short memories in football.

Anonymous said...

Needs to be mentioned how awful the video quality is… looks like it was filmed 15 years ago…

Anonymous said...

Misplaced you do realise they have another going in right … some people are cluelessly aware of the game in the state but make comments when they don’t actually get to games .. get off your arse and get to a game.

Anonymous said...

Drink the kool aid. South Hobart spend just as much as the others. Perhaps more.

Anonymous said...

Agree, so many of these negative comments appear to be from people that believe the quality of game was better back when they played. I have been watching the game for the past 20 years in this State, and I still enjoy it for what it is, and, in my opinion, it is not on the decline as suggested by some.

What major signings have South made this year? The starting team is almost identical to last year!

Anonymous said...

I'm curious to know who in that South East side is past their prime? Apart from Huigi and Walshy, the rest of the team is under 30 (a lot under 25). Stalker is maybe close to 30. The Brown brothers are probably the same age as Morton (who was awarded best on ground). Zammit would be younger than Walter and the rest of the SEU team is under 25

Anonymous said...

Never moaned? They literally moaned every single time

Anonymous said...

Anon 1.57
Hess
Wright
Kemp
Both
They're all playing for free aren't they don't forget
Walter
Gorrie
Arrived last year. Don't kid yourself south have invested

Anonymous said...

SH for what they have bought are really not that good. SE United showed this very well. Over rated players. Morton is a jet. Rest wouldn’t even make an second tier team for Tas

Anonymous said...

NPL Tas is a rabble

Anonymous said...

It's over 24 hours since the match ended and still no acknowledgment of who even won the game on the FT social media channels. The promotion and coverage of what is meant to be their biggest day of the year was pathetic.

Anonymous said...

To everyone above. Who are you people?

Anonymous said...

Easy to assume the best team spend the most. Anyone in the know, knows that Knights have spent double what any club in the south have so far, and come back to this comment in the next week or two when you see who else Knights sign/what they’re spending :)

Anonymous said...

Thank you SH and SEU on a great final it was enjoyable to watch and congratulations Devonport on a 1st class facility your grandstand and club house looked fantastic.

Anonymous said...

3.14 same old crap from the same people. Move on.

Anonymous said...

Great final, gritty effort by SEU pushed SH and looked good on the break, even when they were robbed of one early when South went to ground, (page 2 in the Ken time wasting trick book), play on, it’s a final! Worryingly for the rest of the campaign South looked to be glad Kopra called time.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. The hospitality at Devonport was brilliant. I’m a SH supporter black and white and it’s the best venue in the state now by a long way.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget they don't pay their players ,what a joke

Anonymous said...

Walter your blog is soooooo good please never stop i love having a chuckle at all the idiots in the comments

Anonymous said...

Don’t forget the Clarence lads who don’t get a look in. Jack Turner although he didn’t last they signed him. Second keeper too so plenty of signings tbf. Having Hess bench as a CB shows the depth

Anonymous said...

It can only go on the incline from what it is now. Low

Anonymous said...

Football Tasmania did South win the Lakoseljac Cup would hardly know on your Facebook Page .

Obviously issues there to be sorted !

Anonymous said...

Yes it’s poor but so this the coverage so what do you expect.

Anonymous said...

Ironic.
