Second Division outfit Kingston Cannons have a glorious history as Rapid.

The inane rule disallowing ethnic names in Australian soccer put paid to the name Rapid.

Here are some clippings from The Mercury of 45 years ago illustrating some of the achievements of Rapid.

They even participated in the Australia Cup and played in Melbourne against J.U.S.T., the Serbian-backed club in Victoria.

Rapid had their second great period in the late 1970s under coach Ken Morton, before he went to coach in the old NSL.
