Southern squad of 20 named for men's series against North

The Southern men’s squad has been announced for the intrastate series against the North later this month.

The squad is:

Goalkeepers: Alex Tatnell (Glenorchy Knights), Michael Moschogianis (Clarence United)

Defenders: Liam Scott (South Hobart), Hugh Ludford (South Hobart), Alex Holmes (Glenorchy Knights), Ryan Smith (Tilford Zebras), Andrew Telega (Tilford Zebras), Henry Fagg (Tilford Zebras), Marc Iseli (Kingborough Lions United)

Midfielders: Gary Upton (South Hobart), Shae Hickey (South Hobart), Josh Fielding (Glenorchy Knights), Jade Clay (Gelnrochy Knights), Ricky Self (Tilford Zebras), Charles White (Kingborough Lions United)

Strikers: Julius Ross (South Hobart), Amadu Koroma (Glenorchy Knights), Dwayne Walsh (Tilford Zebras), Luke Cripps (Clarence United), Adam McKeown (New Town Eagles)

Coach: Eamonn Kelly

Manager: Daniel Kelly

Physiotherapist: Leon Van Lierop

There are no representatives from Hobart Olympic or University, while the league’s leading marksman, Ben Crosswell, from Tilford Zebras, has not been included.

It may be that Crosswell has not made himself available for selection, or that he is carrying an injury, but he will be missed.

Not a bad squad. Should be able to reverse last years result. Would of been interesting to see if one C.Smith would of been included if not 1. Suspended, or 2. Had more discipline, which would probably cancel out any suspension. Only what ifs I guess.

Some questionable & some spot on selections, and I wonder if Eammon is keeping an eye towards politics & keeping some clubs happy? (Except for Uni & Olympic, of course) For example, why wouldn't you select the whole South Hobart defence, the most miserly in the comp? Not to pick Dave Cooper in favour of some of the others named makes me really wonder. Same with Zebs attack, Wot's going on with Crozza? Not to have Michael Bulis and Kosta Kanakaris in there is also a tad odd, for mine. Hamish Peacock's a better 'keeper than the other lads, too, I reckon. Anyway, I guess the big fella knows wot he's doing. Hope they find some motivation & put up a better show against the north than last year.

Crikey, that is no way the best team that could be put out, surely. Julius Ross over Kanakaris and Bulis? He doesn't start for South much? Don't get me wrong, I rate him quite highly but the other guys are playing seniors every week and Bully is scoring goals. Also, surely Crosswell must have made himself unavailable?

Good to see Charlie White included - great player. With him and Upton in the team it will give the side a lot of stability. I think that the midfield selections are pretty on point.

Obviously I'd be asking why Smithers isn't included - he's in great form but as we all know there is a lot more to that story!

I'd also have Brodie Green involved to some extent - for me he has been Knights' most consistent defender this season.

Googles, Chris wass should be in the state side if you want the ball to be kicked in the air but i would like to see it on the ground. what do you think?

come on really, Bulis in the squad!!! Sure he is the highest goal scorer for Olympic, but against quality opposition he goes missing. Anyone who was at the game against South on Saturday would have seen that.
