Former Tasmanian director of coaching Steve Darby has been again been appointed as assistant coach to the Thailand national team.

The new head coach is former Manchester United and England midfield star Bryan Robson.

Darby was appointed caretaker coach after the departure of Peter Reid, who took up the position of assistant manager of Stoke City in the English Premier League.

Darby was widely tipped to be appointed in a full-time capacity, but the Thailand FA ultimately opted for Robson.

Robson has decided that Darby's knowledge of Asian football was invaluable and has made him assistant coach.

Darby was a youth player with Liverpool before turning to coaching and he became the assistant coach of Bahrein for two years before moving to Tasmania as player-coach of Devonport.

He was then appointed to the position of Tasmanian coaching director before again moving to club level as a player and coach of White Eagles.

He also played for South Hobart, University and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Featured above is a collage of Darby's days in Tasmania.

Hi George

Disaster! Sorry about that. I've fixed it. Must be the red and white stripes that had me confused!

Cheers!
