Greece already in trouble after defeat in Group B

South Korea became the first team to win at the World Cup in South Africa when they beat Greece 2-0 in their Group B match this evening.

Lee Jung Soo took advantage of poor defending by Greece at a free-kick near the corner flag on the left to smash the ball home from inside the 6-yard box in the 7th minute.

Only a good save by Alexandros Tzorvas from Lee Seung Yeoul prevented South Korea from going further ahead.

Manchester United midfielder Park Ji Sung made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute when he dispossessed Loukas Vyntra and advanced on goal before shooting past Tzorvas.

Greece only came alive in the last 20 minutes when Theofanis Gekas had a couple of good chances, but his shots were blocked or turned over the bar by the goalkeeper.
