National Training Centre 2-2 Beachside

______________________________

Beachside sparred with the National Training Centre or TIS squad yesterday evening at Olinda Grove.

The match was played in three thirds and was a practice session for the NTC before they play in the NTC Challenge series.

Beachside led 2-0 at the end of the first third, while there was no change to the score in the second third.

Ben Crosswell gave Beachside the lead after 14 minutes, while Bernhard Klasen added the second in the 20th minute.

The NTC team recovered in the final two thirds of the match and goals by Jamie De Smit and Josh Williams for the NTC in the final third made it 2-2 at the end.

Beachside looked very good in the opening third but then ran out of legs somewhat for the rest of the game.

The NTC had up to half a dozen new players from last season’s team.

Brett Pullen and Nathan Robinson played for part of the game for Beachside, while New Town Eagles’ under-19 keeper Liam Ferrall was a guest player for them.

Taroona’s David Abbott also played for Beachside and was often opposed by his brother, Will.

The match attracted some interest and Glenorchy Knights’ coaches Nick Harrison and Anthony Grundy were watching.

Will be a tough season no matter who's eyes your looking through!
Kingborough beachside and eagles all have enough quality coming through to hold there own.

Chel Pierce Andrews Palmer Mcdonald Isle all hitting a prime age, add the chance of picking up the two TIS boys and Geoff already plays the 4-3-3 although very defensive.

Whitehall Lezinski Clarke Vernon Kent Mckewon Pitchford Strang all in that same age again! All very versitile players. Add 2 TIS boys one to help mckewon(walker) the other to steady the ship(abbott)and thats a very tough team to beat.

Going from the game at Olinda Grove,
Beachside also have loads of talent/experience. Crosswell Abbot as well as having Robinson Sozinski and Pullen chipping in occasionally and Klasen will score if he gets a sniff. Add The TIS boys and theres certainly not a team thats going to be easily beaten.

Other teams speak for themselves on this blog mostly and south on the football field.

Goodluck.

Is Crosswell playing at Beachside?

Ive heard a number of rumours about where he will be playing next year.

Any info

crossa ditch the headband mate

Liam ferrall would be a great addition to beachside Walter. The boy looked in great shape yesterday.

Beach looked decent rotating about 18 players throughout the game. With 6 senior players from last season still to come in things are looking positive thus far.

fezza wont play for beachside and neither will abott.

eagles line up is trash and there is no way that they would get the tis playing the 'pump it long over the cricket pitch' tactics

kingborough do not play a 4-3-3, they play a 10-0 in defense and an 8-1-1 in attack, get serious they are rubbish

the only thing that this game highlighted were 2 things -
1. beachside will probably stay up but only if they keep all players playing this game, which means a tough year for eagles, kingborough and olympia
2. the tis had a lot of new players and will get a lot better

I can confirm that Crosswell did play for beachside last night, no confirmation on what he is doing.

Can anyone confirm if toghill is at knights? Liam scott? surely south have picked up someone.

Any of the ex-beachside players returning? Know of a few younger players at the finges of knights and taroona.

Anonymous 11.08am, so you can confirm that Crosswell played for Beachside! That's obvious, mate, as his photo is there from last night's game.

Not sure how you come to this conclusion when beachside only had 5 senior players in the game for a 30 minute period...you were obviously watching the game with your club's rose coloured glasses on.

the reserve and 19's players did well for a 2nd training session run.

crossa a fantastic addition to beachside if he commits along with fezza and the TIS boys.

come on, would you let two of your best products go to corey?

I think this year will be a lot tighter than many think. South will fall back to the pack this year probably still on par with the zebras for the title. Both eagles and lions with young and up and coming teams 2 really consistently pressure the top teams. Beachside are experienced and know how to win games. Knights to look at rebuilding a new environment at the club but have the squad to be a top four team still. Olympia will be interesting to see how this new pitch plays out. Could be a huge advantage come home games knowing how the surface plays, so home points vital there. Clarence has been there about always a threat in the league but didn’t have a convincing year last year but can’t be written off.

At the end of the day no one has a real idea till club sign players and with the TIS pairing may bring great success or turmoil within a club.

A very interesting season to come too bad we are 3 months out still

Could agree! cant seeing any decent coach letting two of tasmania's best prospects get involved in the controversy that corey smith and certain players around cause not only on the field but on this very blog. Would like to see the boys join a team that wont stunt there development but to further it. EG. South,Beach,Olympic,King

RE Chel Pierce Andrews Palmer Mcdonald Isle

You have just posted 4 players who would struggle to get a game for the top clubs.

Lol how can anyone think eagles will finish last? They will push top 3 next season!

If I were Crozza's current coach he would not be playing practice games, pre season, with any team he wants to . What is this ?It is a slap in the face to his existing club.I know this season is over , but your latest club deserves a bit more respect than that type of behaviour.Maybe he has advised Zebras that he wont play there next year.If so then it is fine, however he did the same thing last year pre season. It makes the competition very amateurish. If I were coach he would have to commit early. Imagine if every player did the same thing .What a joke.

Zebras 3rd or 4th without Crosswell.South to win again but maybe by not such a big margin.Olympia the dark horse.Eagles will struggle.Clarence mid table.Knights may do well early but will fade away.Kingborough may finish near bottom . Beachside near the bottom if not bottom. , depending on who they pick up, if anyone. Remember the TIS finished high up in the reserves league this year with a much stronger squad. The boys that played last night included a few 14 year olds who are new to the team and did not play during this year.Based on that result , Beachside would lose to most senior Premier League clubs.

pretty sure chel could easily play for any club in the state

I thought Crosswell was playing with Rangers in 2011???

You obviously weren't at the game. Beachside played their 19's side for 60 minutes of the game. Beachside will not only survive, but they will thrive in this amaeurish competition

Will there be chicken raffles at the home Beachside games?

Anonymous said...

I agree that 4 of those kingborough players probably wouldnt make it in with the top 3 teams. but playing four years or more experience does build players and good on geoff to sticking by them. Beachside will struggle, to much of a gap in talent. South to win easy.

Didn't pierce play for south and couldnt get a game?

Will CS and NH show up and use foul and abusive language as per usual? who knows. At least there's a prize at the end of a chicken raffle!

Just reading and am concerned that there are more people worried about degrading myself than worrying about the game. Grow up. Below are points raised in posts which I disagree with.
Issue 1 - TIS boys would certainly not be coming to me, I am a player in a team. A very good team with a great bunch of guys and loads of potential. My biggest issue is staying on the park and I know that and am working on it. I am sure I will learn from Nick and Googsy as would any other player that came to the club
Issue 2 - bring a decent joke up rather than the chicken man joke, this is in the past and in my opinion not really funny as it was not a proud moment
Issue 3 - Toghill is playing at clarence and just because he is having a kick with some of his mates from knights in futsal doesn't mean he will just pack up and leave.. are you not allowed to be mates with people outside your club?
Issue 4 - anon 12.28, why be degrading when proof is there that I can develop junior and youth players? It clearly is irrelevant your post anyway but it just jumps out that you seem to be unable to post without a sly dig everytime? Do I know who you are? well i think everyone does... but surely you should concentrate on being a good coach rather than mocking others.
Issue 5 - anon 12.54, you obviously are narrow minded and dont have any real understanding of good coaching, development or club structures.

I hear beachside were looking to recruit further experience in retires, there bringing back clinton brown (ex youth aus player) Neil Tomas(Ex aus international) Paul "kappa" Kapolous (olympic savior in the 80s).

Anonymous said...

Could name 20 players including billy gaspinartos and marcus atkinson that also left south hobart because they couldnt get a game.

Word on the street is d. Walsh is on trial in melbourne. Any truth to this rumour?

Jeremy walker seems to have decent feet but surprisingly has average disposal ability for a TIS player.

Corey you give bloggers ammo everytime you post a blog. Grow up and decline from commenting on here. The more you do the more stick you will cop.It is similar to being in a battle. If you pop your head up, someone will have a go at knocking it off. You seem to be the only player (that signs his own name I suppose)that continuously comments on here.Let your feet do the talking on the park and refrain from getting involved in this rubbish.
This is Step 1 in your maturing process. If I were your coach I would ban you from blogging, however I am not.

Anon 9.12 AM . Yes I was at the game. You think the league is amateurish. We will see how mothy you are at the end of the season.

Anonymous said...

I was at the game too and Beach were very ordinary, Crossa will not play for them, without him they would have really struggled. If not for the goalie they would have lost by a fair few, he saved 5 one on ones in the first 30 mins. If that was their team div 1 in 2011 for Beach
