Football Federation Tasmania have advertised the position of technical director and game development manager.
The previous incumbent, Steve Payne, resigned at the end of August after less than a year in the job.
“Football Federation Tasmania are committed to filling this position to ensure the continued implementation of the national curriculum,” said FFT CEO, John Boulous.
“Football Federation Tasmania, through this position, are looking to provide the expertise to support the football community, players and coaches to develop and be the very best they can be.”
The successful applicant will be on a three-year contract and must have a Football Federation of Australia ‘A’ or ‘B’ licence, or the equivalent Asian Football Confederation or EUFA qualifications.
Applications close on 10 December.
Meanwhile, applications have closed for the coaching positions for the FFT boys’ and girls’ under-14 and under-15 teams.

who is david cox?
Your spending alot of time around the eagles pre season trainings Walter. Much to report on or does George give you more information than other clubs? Do you think they will improve in 2011?
Garth for president
Anonymous 9.43pm, I don't really spend much time around Eagles. I spent more time this week around the Knights. I think I've spoken to George less than half a dozen times in the past couple of months.
There's nothing to report from Eagles and I haven't a clue at this time in pre-season as to how they'll do next season.
South Hobart's first training session on Thursday should be interesting because of their new German fitness coach.
I look with interest at futsal and the boys at kgv putting in a team.
Could this be a sign of the division between the two coming to an end and promising a joint attitude to promoting our sport rather than creating splits between traditional and non traditional forms of the code.
The two can lend a positive to each other and gains are there for the taing by both entities.
This is not a pro or negative towards either side just a comment on the benefits to both so hopefully it will be read as that and only positive feedback is forth coming.
Walter I find it hard to believe that FFT would enter a side in the Vikings competition.
Are you sure?
Why has it taken FFT so long to advertise for a replacement Technical Director? Obviously this position is low on their priorities. Realistically the successfull applicant wont start till February - barely 6 months till the end of the season. Who is taking responsibility for this - the board, CEO? Just another way they can save 50K on expenses - will clubs see the saving in fees that are paid - I guarantee not.
Walter are you sure the "FFT" team wasn't just a team playing in both competitions?

Agree
You need to be careful of what you post Walter.
Why would FFT support Vikings, Im sure FFA wouldnt look at this in a very positive way.
apparently vikings sent an invitation to fft but they failed to pass this on and then a few teams from the fft competition got wind of this and entered anyway
Walter can post what he likes, I'm sure FFA would be reading this blog everyday lol.
Football Federation in other states have entered teams in Vikings competition for many years. It is a way of showing their players are a lot better than Vikings.
Victoria Football Federation sends teams away to enter into Nationwide Vikings competitions.
Walter what sort of numbers did eagles and knights have at training.
To clear up the confusion, I approached FFT and spoke to John Boulous and left the offer there for their teams to enter the competition. At the end of the day it is kids playing Futsal or Football and it was a strong competition.
I am not sure whether this was passed on or not, but there were some teams from FFT competitions which heard about the event and asked if they could enter. We were obviously more than happy for them to do so and they had to register for insurance and then they were able to play.
FFT also were kind enough to grant us permission to use their existing goals at the venue which saved us a lot of time in bringing in our own goals from elsewhere. Common sense prevailed and a big thanks must go to them for allowing this.
The whole day was a huge success and it was a good indication of the strength of vikings futsal competitions in the state.
The visiting team from interstate had a great time and have said they will be back next year with more teams.
Hope this clears up any confusion.
Will be interesting to see who is at south training. Some new face i expect knowing Ken!
David Cox plays for Eagles
anon 10.15 the vikings teams are heaps stronger in tasmania than fft sides when it comes to futsal
Who gives a flying crap who is better at futsul, FFT or Vikings! At the end of the day its only futsal!!!
Great to see Futsal getting a mention and being a topic of conversation again. Melikesfootball, if you don't care don't comment but it seems a lot do care.
Thanks wlater for reporting the event which was a huge success.
For more details on the event see www.tasfutsal.com
anom 10.15 there are kids out there that dont play futsal in comps but when they play kids that made vikings state teams they beat them easy
this debate is not very relevant as of course there are players out there who would make good futsal players
ANOM 3.17 whatv i was trying to say is parents of some of these kids are told that their kids are the best thing to come to football (when they play futsal)since sliced bread.
When they play kids who have played football they are beaten .
And the comments about Vikings team being the best are incorrect because there are better kids out there playing football and alot of there rep teams are parents who are told there kids are great players and they can afford to pay for them to go away
anon 6.55 do you think people are dumb? before you go mouthing of about vikings maybe you should look deeper into what they actually offer.
Kids are offered the opportunity to represent the state something FFT wont offer. And yes there are some Quality teams with vikings that can hold thier own in any comp, i for one will send my child on a trip with them as it is not all about elite ism, buy the way is there such a thing as elite teams in Tas? if the answer is yes your dreaming!
anom 10.30 p.m if you have $1000 dollars to spend to send your kid away to play what happens to the kid that doesnt have the money but is a great player.
i didnt say anything about being elite i just said that there are kids who dont play in futsal comps who beat teams from futsal comps when they play them.and if you spent time around kids soccer you would hear parents talking about how their kids have made state teams( and you expect to see some great player take the pitch) then you see them run out to play and they cant even pass the ball in an outdoor game more than five metres .All for kids participating at all levels but if you read previous blogs you see people saying how Vikings is so good i was just replying with my point of view.Maybe the parents who send there kids away just need to take reality check on there kids skills levels.
hi walter could you please check my last comment was anom cheers dont want to much flack as didnt appreciate being called dumbass really enjoy your blog great to read about football from other parts of Australia
Anonymous 10.23am, Eagles and Knights had about 15 players each at their trainings when I watched them.
hi anon 7.22
Whilst agreeing with you that there are better players than those selected to represent Vikings they do at least have a selection policy and as a long term junior/youth coach with two sons playing indoor and outdoor I think you will find that there are plenty of good players that do not either trial or get selected in State outdoor teams on economic grounds No Ihave not had sons that have missed out because they chose not to trail. But if we talk about elitism then you need to look at FFt policy of user pays as well Is vikings better than any other competition I do not know to me it is about participation in all forms of the game If you look at statitics from FFT then they experienced a big drop our rate last year at youth level To my mind we should all be lookiing at ways to encourage kids to play at any level than useless mud slinging that always seem to happen.
FFT should push for government funding to send away state teams to national competitions , At the end of the day , these boys are going away to represent FFT.Why should the individuals pay ? I understand that finding money year in and year out to fund teams is difficult. It is just as difficult for families who may have a gifted player at age 12 who may be selected for the next three years until under 15 . Some families may not be in a position to afford this money for three years in a row. If that child is excluded because his family cannot afford it , then how many other boys are in the same boat ? The sides sent to these competitions will never be our strongest. Or are favours done for certain players/families ?
hi anom 7.22 and 11.37 i agree with both of you that the best kids are being left out because they cant afford to pay to go on with the sport miss out on better coaching etc maybe it is something clubs should take up with FTT.
also walter you were looking for stories lots of kids are going to under 13 next year and dont know what clubs to go to maybe you could interview the clubs and see what their ideas are for the game and club culture and what are their coachs qualificatiions and game and experience.
As parents all you hear is the bad things about clubs if you say your kid is going there.
Originally the funds ($600K so far) promised by then Premier Paul Lennon were for parents of players representing their State at Nationals but FFT convinced the Government to spend the money on two coaches so we can run the current chirade of preparing scores of Tasmanian youngsters for a life in professional football (the TIS football program).
Originally 800k over 4 years, 400k to the TIS and 400k to FFT, some of the FFT component pays for Anthony and Kurt.I think the Junior Assoc only received a little bit.
I think Dean May is the acting Technical Director.
As long as the State kids have to pay, we will never have the best players on the park
