Interesting to see Bresciano and Beauchamp out of the squad.

About time Sasa Ognenovski received some recognition. He is playing in the Asian Champions League final on Saturday night.

That should keep the Ogmonster cheer squad happy but...still Jade North and Richard Garcia. Oh dear. No reward for members of the Under19s - Kantarovski should at least get a run.

Garcia has good defensive qualities. Still I'm surprised he was called up. He is effective at disturbing build ups in the attacking half of the pitch.

North is different from our other centre backs. He is faster and recovers more quickly. Just a different type of CB. He is better to negotiate combination play just outside the penalty box. Players like Kisnorbo need to see the play unfold before them - direct play, if you like, for this type of player to be successful.

Having said this Ogger deserves selection. He is playing well in the ACL. His distribution was relatively poor when in the A League. Ogger was a good player marker and a decent ball winner though.

Some people think Gulum should have been selected because hes played four games for Besiktas. What's with all the Gulum hype? I'm all for players getting opportunities and chances to impress, but it's like people are expecting him to be some kind of superstar. He has played only four times in the league this season, so I don't understand why people say he is a regular first team LB for Besiktas. If we expect too much we are only going to be disappointed. If he continues to impress at club level and make consistent appearances, then call him up for the next game.

Don't get me wrong, I shudder at the thought of David Carney being our regular LB, but we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.

Spiranovic is currently injured, and it was evident from the game vs Switzerland, that he is Osieck's first choice centre back to partner Neill.

It seems as though our manager is weighing up all decent standard Australian keepers. In his three rounds of selections that he as been in charge of, he has selected 3 different back-up keepers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Langerak or Jones being selected in the near future.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot better options than Jade North. I'd prefer to see Gulum, but his performances for the Socceroos in the games he has been selected in, under Osieck, he has played extremely well. Very safe at the back. So, just maybe this is what the manager is basing North's selection around. But as I mentioned, there are a lot better options than him.

As for the omissions of Oar, Rukavytsya and Gulum.... I am dumbfounded. And the inclusion of Garcia.

Ogger was garbage in the A-League.

Oar had an agreement with his current club that if he played in the u/19 champs he wouldn't play in these Socceroos games.
