Enjoyed these finals series, you could maybe argue that the players checked out a bit but adds some fun to end of the year and good to see some different winners. Hopefully this Devonport/South rivalry grows, only team to win at Valley Road this season did it twice, would have been a great trip home I imagine. Also good to see the WSL played between a really up and coming Zebs side and a solid Devonport side, hopefully bodes well for the competitiveness of both leagues next year!

Just noticed the State Youth teams announced by FT:

Under 16 womens team has at least 3 players who would actually be under 17. Are teams allowed an overage component..

Just interested

Thanks Anon 5.35pm.
I've just watched the full U-Tube replay & South's did a great defensive job. As for their goals - first one direct from a corner !! & Lacca's neat first time finish was just about all they created & needed to win the game. Well done South.
Any thoughts on this game Walter ?

Totally unfair on the players who missed out. Tassie sometimes takes one over age player. Typical Hey move! It even appears all the assitants are hand-picked too.

There are definitely 3 players born in 2006, which makes them 17 or turning 17..

1 x Riverside

2 x Zebras

Its interesting this is allowed to happen, and why it happens

Geez Anon 10.51pm. You really have it against Chris Hey, don't you?

Anonymous said...

Anon 10.51PM.
Whole box and dice is all about rubbing each other's egos .
Pathetic.

The same person making comments about the state team. Do you have a bee in your bonnet about Chris Hey, the state team selections or Clarence? Give it a rest.

Anon 1051pm and 2.33pm why even have an age group if you can just pick overage players surely to bolster the squad.

Anonymous said...

My question here is why they are allowed to play. This is not an open age team and surely there were 3 legitimate aged players in the state who wanted to go and should have gone ahead of over aged a players

Also I don't recall seeing any advertising of trial dates but I may be wrong here

Why don’t you contact FT and ask them - if it is bothering you that much. Get the answer from the horses mouth rather than bagging the coach and the players?

Anonymous said...

FT now there is a place for clear and honest answer

So the old “my kid didn’t make the squad” bitterness still exists obviously!

Anon 9.37pm

Although I don't agree with the way anon 10.51pm worded his response, I think the question is a fair one and there should be an explanation as it is unfair on those who trialled whether the over age selected are better players or not..

An age limit is an age limit

Anonymous said...

One must ask the question why were u17 players even allowed to trial..

Or if someone has an explanation why please put it forward .

Dan how can you justify an over age player being picked over a player in the appropriate age group

Anonymous said...

Maybe, just maybe, they got approval from FA. Tasmania doesn’t have an U17 NTC program like other states.

Anonymous said...

Interesting that we are struggling to field a team of players in the age group.
The Coach of that state team ,is at a club that has had a mass exodus, can barely field teams in the Super League.
So is it time to move him on ,friend in Victoria said they were asking for girls as he didn't have any good players .

Anon 6am

No doubt they had FA approval but why?

And what has Tassie not having a U17 NTC have anything to do with it, it is a under 16 competition..

1. This is not fair on players in the eligible age group

2. This has never been the case in the past why should these players get an advantage of an extra year in state squad..

Anonymous said...

There needs to be a public announcement of why this happened

The reason that there are not enough talented U16 players is not an excuse play those who are eligible

Anonymous said...

Get over it and move on.

Anon 29-9023 10.00AM.
Players are poached every year from wherever possible in order to form a ready made team.
No coaching / teaching / developing involved.
Its been happening for years.

Anonymous said...

Again - get over it and move on. Did your child not make the cut?

Anonymous said...

This is not a club team

Anonymous said...

My children don't play

Anonymous said...

Anon 9.07pm.
No one said it was a club team but that is the processed used for his club
and rep teams.

Anonymous said...

We’ll get over it

Anonymous said...

Got it sorry
