Congratulations to Launceston City for a terrific performance. They are looking really good at this stage of the season. Though I must say, in the absence of their suspended coach, (I’m sure he was hanging out somewhere nearby) Glenorchy Knights looked bereft of defensive organisation and structure. I didn’t see much of their usual pressure on the ball, belief or intensity. I think they made it easy for their opposition. But a big onya to City.

The Knights were dealt a tough hand early, with two bookings in the opening five minutes and a couple of missed chances from Riley Dillion within the first 20 minutes. However, what truly didn’t help their cause was the behaviour of some supporters on the balcony—directing abuse not only at the referee but at their own players. I’ve heard the head coach resigned tonight, reportedly due to the continued abuse from sections of the supporter base towards both referees and players.

They don't pressure the ball and the coach had all week it's the 3rd time they have let in more then 3 goals

South’s 3rd was scored by Nick Morton Walter

Both were definitely bookings too first was high and reckless second one was naughty, Knights had a good 20 minute spell in the second half otherwise it was a fairly one sided affair, Still round 6 so unsure why Knights are imploding internally,

The Coach would have coached them all week, so on the day the two assistants can only carry out what the coach wanted …

I think it’s pretty well established that the behaviour of the Knights fans is embarrassing, driving families away from the club with their behaviour and abuse…

Very bad loss by the Knights. Very hard to cover the players they lost from last year but they just seem to crumble under pressure now. Good for the comp to see Launceston City doing well. They will be a force to deal with in the future.

Credit to Chris hey and his set up vs Devenport tucked in his wingers without the ball and actually got his midfield to sit defend and track players , didn’t concede from a set piece after six the week before
Get the best out of what you have and that’s all you can do
Send the American back and give another lad a chance !!

Kingboroughs second goal was scored by Otto Schwarz

Mate give it a rest the players did well the ,Coach has a habit of self praise please not again .

Hatchet job from the coach

What abuse was being directed at their own players? The coach cant hardly get upset at comments made towards referees when he was sent off for decent the week before.

Good effort from zebras. Would have been closer apart from the soft usual Penvonport penalty at the end.

I think they are a force now!! They are the form side at the moment.

And what a strike it was !!. Great volley. Nice one Otto.

Unfortunately for CZ it’s still 0 points on the board still a basket case despite a much more organised performance

The Croatia community has invested heavily in their club. The upgraded facilities and club-rooms look fantastic.
The recruitment this season has not been up to scratch though and the results have followed. The coach is only as good as his players and 3-4 are not up to standard.

Yes a very much back to the future coaching appointment not the future the past .

Those that are causing problems should be banned from the Glenorchy Knights club and all games for life. They are of no benefit to the community and good people will walk away as a result. Unfortunately, Saturday's situation is not an isolated incident, it has gone on for months.

Who would have thought a trip in the box is actually given as a penalty.

Utter nonsense. The Knights have a solid squad. Looks more like a coach not getting the best out of a good group of players. They don't have to win the league, but he should be doing better with what he's got at his disposal.

Anonymous said...

So if they “don’t have to win the league” and are currently only 1 point from second, what is the problem!?

Anonymous said...

The fact of the matter is that those fans causing trouble will face no repercussions. They put too much money over the bar to be kicked out…

Anonymous said...

Bit over the top all that is need is to just tone it down nothing else required.

Anon 2.14pm. Unfortunately the coach can’t do much with sub standard players. They are only 1 point from second - I think that is pretty good seeing as though they lost about 8 players from last year. Give him a chance (You must be one of those “supporters” that Knights need to get rid of)

Anonymous said...

The Knights Board/Committee need to grow some and get rid of those “supporters” causing problems. Not a good look.

Anonymous said...

The players aren't sub-standard, they are clearly a talented group, which puts the onus on the coach. The players deserve enormous credit for their performances, not the coach. It looks more like they are achieving in spite of him.

Anon 7.56pm. You have just contradicted yourself LOL

Sounds like two sides of the storey at Knights. Didnt see any of these issues in the last few years…

Anonymous said...

What exactly did the supporters say or do?

Anonymous said...

What's changed?

City are the best. They are the best team ever in this comp
