South are not so hot. On today's effort they are certainly beatable. Especially when you consider Zebras were nothing to write home about.

Knights were somewhat ordinary as well. Uni, Clarence & Lions have a long way to go.

eagles were bad, olympic were worse. long way to go for olympic if the strikers fail to convert chances or run for the team

The second comment show's just how uneducated some people are.. The South /Zebras game was played at a high level of both skill and pace ,Clarence outplayed a knights outfit that fell apart under pressure for all bar the first ten minutes.Olympic could'nt put away a nine man eagles .I cant comment on the last game as I had to leave but what i did see was enough to suggest that it will again be Sth and Zeb's at the top and Clarence , knights and Olympic fighting it out for the remaining two spots in the top four.

No, the second comment suggests there is vast room for improvement in all teams. Some more than others obviously. Surely people can make a comment without everyone getting up in arms. It is a democracy afterall.

Div 1: Beachside look the goods...
Beachside far too good for Hobart United.
Metro & Taroona, Metro 80% play but don't have anyone that can score goals after creating many scoring ops. Taroona 1 real chance and they finished it.
Other's.....Nelson,Christian,Dosa & Eagles will just be others.

anon February 22, 2009 10:04 AM. Are you sure that NTE can be dismissed as others given they came close to winning it last year? They are clearly the best footballing side in the division, it's just whether the legs will hold out against younger teams.

major upset of the round.division 2 side newtown eagles beat division1 side dosa 3-0.if eagles could win the premiership in divison2 do they get rewarded with promotion to the first division or will they get relegated to the social leagues?

Anonymous said...

jerry,

i would hardly call that an upset. given the standard of the game i would hardly be impressed with either side.

Anonymous said...

should they both be in the social league anonymus?

As a gatekeeper I am glad someone has acknowledged they were happy to pay money to watch .

A pleasant change from the abuse and hassles Jimmy and I are subject to from time to time .

Div 1 looks to be a two horse this year... with Taroona and Beachside. Taroona used a weaker team against Metro and still got a result.. Beachside looked comanding against a weaker Hobart United team. Great to see Newtown get a win with the young side and South using a couple of youth players in the steve hudson cup tday.

Brian, value for money indeed. It's also good that players dont have to pay to get in. That was one thing I could never understand. Will that be the case all this year or just summer cup? or is it a club by club thing?

Anonymous said...

i am preety sure you will find metro have atleast 5 or 6 players to come in, and from the game i seen taroona had one chance which they took and all credit to them, metro had nearly all of the play but could not convert the chances they had, would not be counting metro out come the start of the season.
What was going on with the line markings at olinda grove on Saturday, absolute disgrace!!!

beachside to go undefeated this season

Re the query on gate admission .

During the season proper it is usually a mutual arrangement between clubs .

However if you should play north of the Mason Dixon line expect to pay.

It has been a long established custom that all pay to play and spectate. No one complains , it is part of life . ( That is unless you are a Southern visiting side)
