Sunday's Football Result

DOSA Northern Suburbs and Christian United occupy the two bottom places on the Division One ladder after they drew 2-2 in an entertaining match at Sandown today.

A missed penalty by Stephen Swift midway through the second half proved costly for DOSA, which led 2-0 at one stage.

DOSA almost scored on the half-hour when John Visentin’s corner found David Visentin, but his header was tipped over the crossbar by Christian United goalkeeper, Scott Nicholson.

Two minutes later, Swift put DOSA ahead with a free-kick from 25 metres. Nicholson got his hands to the ball but could not keep it out.

In the 34th minute, an own-goal put DOSA 2-0 up, a back-pass just eluding Nicholson as he raced off his line.

David Visentin was unlucky for DOSA as he headed wide from Mark Wakefield’s cross a minute later.

Despite three brilliant saves by DOSA keeper Justin Farrugia, Christian fought its way back into the game and Jesse Arnold headed home Dae Won Kim’s corner to make it 2-1 two minutes before the interval.

Eight minutes after the resumption, a well-worked free-kick by Angus Livingston caught DOSA off guard and Adam Van Sant headed the equaliser.

Both sides had good chances near the end, Arnold shooting just wide for Christian and David Visentin striking the woodwork for DOSA.

Thanks, Wiggo. I've changed it. I guess you were closer to the action as you were actually playing. Much appreciated.
