Nick Harrison has been appointed coach of Forestry Tasmania Southern Premier League club Glenorchy Knights for the 2011 season.

Anthony Grundy, a central defender in the senior side, has been appointed Harrison’s assistant.

The announcement was made this evening and club spokesman John Peter said the club wished to thank all those who had applied for the position.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Harrison as senior coach and Anthony Grundy as assistant coach to take the Knights forward in 2011,” Peter said.

Harrison had been caretaker coach at the Knights for half of last season after the departure of Eamonn Kelly.

Leon Van Lierop will also stay with the club as the physiotherapist, a decision that has delighted Harrison.

Knights will have a ‘meet the coaches’ barbecue, followed by a kick-about, at their Prince of Wales ground on Sunday, 31 October, commencing at noon.

Pre-season training will commence at the Prince of Wales ground at 5.30pm on 22 November.

A good person who is best to take the Knights forward. Needs to learn alot more tho, and gain experience, which he will. Hopefully he is looking to take the club forward. Need to hold on to players such as Peter, Huigsloot, Holmes and Koroma.

Had heard that Gary Upton had been offered the knights job first, anyone know if there is any truth to the rumour?

you could not give a caretaker coach the job on what he achieved after kelly left not a good choice moving forward this club will lose players because of this .hard to believe that committee could be so blindsighted.

obviously not a lot of applications for this job ,or not a lot of coaches available ?

Good decision by the knights. Have appointed coaches with the clubs best interests at heart. Harrison has been there a few years now and Grundy is a club legend who has the respect from all the players. Good club to be at in 2011 so look out for them for the title

A few people on here seem to be making comments on something they know nothing about. Nick Harrison is a good coach and will take the club forward. He has been bagged out for his performances since taking over from Eamonn Kelly but the club finished in exactly the same position as last year so it's not really justified. Grundy has been round a while and knows what it's all about so together they should form a pretty formidable coaching team. With the rumoured departures from both south and zebras the knights could be in with a good chance at the title if they keep the squad together.

Holmes to Beachside! go mate have a crack and see what pullen puts together! Fish to clarence and will shoot them into top 3 and fish to top goalscore.

What are they going to do replace fish with chalky or jackson marsh, all they can do is make themselves look like idiots on this blog.

Amadu to melbourne! well knights should book him a return flight.

Best of luck nick, toughest gig in the league id say.
