North Queensland Fury 0-2 Brisbane Roar: Brisbane extend unbeaten run to 17 matches

North Queensland Fury 0-2 Brisbane Roar

________________________________

Two excellent goals by Kosta Barbarouses powered Brisbane Roar to a 2-0 away win over North Queensland Fury at Dairy Farmers Stadium in Townsville last night.

The win gives Brisbane Roar a 10-point lead at the top of the A-League ladder over second-placed Adelaide United, while the Fury drop a place to second-last on goal-difference.

The win extends the Roar’s unbeaten run to 17 matches.

It took just 7 minutes for Barbarouses to net his 8th goal of the season. He waltzed his way past two defenders and rounded the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into an empty net.

Ivan Franjic almost added a second, but his shot in the 14th minute clipped the top of the Fury crossbar.

Barbarouses went close in the 54th minute, shooting over from an angle on the right and with Jean Carlos Solorzano waiting unmarked at the far post.

Four minutes later, Solorzano fired into the side-netting from Thomas Broich’s pass.

In the very next minute, Fury goalkeeper Justin Pasfield did well to save Solorzano’s powerful shot.

Fourteen minutes from the end, Barbarouses raced through in the inside-left channel to beat Pasfield and make it 2-0.

BARNESY RECKONS.....

Last night really showed that the Roar are the real deal. They weren't overly spectacular, as they didn't really get out of second gear, but even though this, they were able to win comfortably, away from home, in hot humid conditions.

This shows a truly good team. Able to win comfortably without especially getting out of second gear. Worlds away from last year. So to Roarcelona for being 10 points clear.

Yes, the Fury aren't exactly hard to beat, but still the Roar showing their worth

Fury impressed me. They had so many players out of the line up or out of position (no striker) as well as huge off field issues.

Yet they still played some decent football with some good pressing and they controlled possesion well for most of it.

Just a shame the clubs so instable of the pitch.
