Should Shackloth at NTE consider stepping down after that result? No disrespect to South East but back to back champions with the squad they haven’t shouldn’t be losing a game like that… is the team selection too old or does is the tactics not up to scratch?

At the start of this years NPL competition I hoped it would not be another runaway title win for Devonport and that there would be a number of genuine contenders. I also hoped there wouldn't be 2 or 3 sides unable to compete and propping up the bottom of the table. Now, after one full round of matches it is clear this is not going to be the case and it will be yet another same-old, same-old season. I'm afraid the NPL has become a joke and not worthy of any further support. How long will these poor seasons last in what should be the state's showpiece competition ?

Yesterday was a first at valley road. Been a long time since mr Coad hasn’t gifted Penvonport their weekly penalty. Great to see he wasn’t fooled this time by the usual Devonport dive and theatrics in the 8th minute. Was a great tackle from Eli and after the correct decision was made, number 9 for Penvonport then miraculously got up and was fine

3 upsets in the Championship this week enjoyable league to follow this season.

1251. We can thank FT in their wisdom for 3 Lonny teams. Everyone else know it wouldn’t work. It just highlights amongst many other things how out of touch they are with our game.

Most leagues have sides that struggle every year most leagues also go through spells of dynasties

Should have been a red card and penalty! He clearly missed the ball and kicked Devonports number 9 clear as day.

I really feel sorry for you. Must be hard being jealous of success! There are hotlines that may be able to assist your troubles. Take care keyboard warrior

Knocks the ball onto the lads legs lucky but good enough

FT have been obsessed with trying to get more teams into the NPL for years now. They have made it clear that the quality of those sides is irrelevant and the league is all the poorer for that fact. A six team competition with everybody playing each other twice home and away is clearly the best model and all that we have the depth in talent to really support. Instead we get an unbalanced fixture and two sides who get blown out most weeks. The NPL could be a very good league with 3 interesting games every week, instead, we get mediocrity and a standard that is declining year on year.

If we are honest, this could be the last year of the state league. I’d South Hobart are successful, in which I hope they are, then this league will collapse back into two conferences.
The league has been on its knees for years. No promotion on TV or anything like when it first started. The under 21 league may stay statewide but the NPL league has dropped off massively.

End the state league ASAP - just like AFL Tas have. Back to regional.

Must suck being so salty all the time lol.

Sounds like your weekend literally revolves around Devonport and:

1. Complaining if Dev win through a penalty, or
2. Sarcasm about Dev not getting a penalty.

Maybe get outside a bit and relax. Maybe skip watching the Dev game.

I would almost bet they find it hilarious.

Was a good tackle by Eli. However, Eli passed the forward the ball 5 seconds beforehand.. So was merely redemption.

Anonymous May 14, 7.09. Whenever you see the word "jealous" you know Mr Devonportitis is back making another predictable post. Do you realize that people use capital letters sometime to emphasise a point ? Let me know if you have any problems understanding that concept. Meanwhile I will mix up a few capitals and lower case letters now to enable you to at least match your pAthETic cOmeBaCk ComMenTs of 2 weeks ago.

8:08 you will find there are many many NPL followers who don’t like the way Devonport dive and winge when things dont go their way which has been the case for many years. And not to mention the favouritism they have enjoyed with big game decisions from 2 referees in particular. I suggest you go outside beyond your little backwater and open your eyes

Anonymous said...

8:08 I'd love to see some evidence of this because I've seen Devonport miss out on alot more decisions that they should have got and I suppose they've won the last 5/7 seasons from diving?

Anonymous said...

It’s ok! I can understand your grammar and punctuation is still in high school somewhere. I will look past this now I know. Keep chipping away keyboard warrior. I am sure people in Devonport are losing sleep over your penalty comments

Anonymous said...

Slow day at work? Maybe you need to see a professional that can help you with your claims about Devonport. You really need to get it off your chest and move along

Anonymous said...

It’s not only Devonport NPL team, their WSL team likes to dive and whinge too

I was defending Dev mate? I think you misread my comment.

I think the Dev bashing is a bit old..

No, you don't win 5/7 seasons with luck and diving for penalties.

Funnily enough, I wAs ThE One ThE OthEr WeeK, NoT AnOn 9:25 AM LoLl

What's even more funny is the fact I support a Southern Champ team. I just LOL at the the tall poppy syndrome. South used to cop it too when they were dominant.

Thanks for this information. I will pass it onto someone who cares!

Anonymous said...

Hahahah mate you are yellow and blue blind

Anonymous said...

This is serious. See a doctor. Yellow and blue blindness is dangerous. Thank you

Anonymous said...

May be he is a person who sees the whole picture.
South had their time shining and now it's Devonport.
You seem to forget they are a one team town unlike Hobart.
That plays a big part .
More quality players more finances and a community that gets behind their club.
I'm not surprised at all that Devonport have been the bench mark for years and will be for ages unless southern clubs get their act together.

Sounds like we have at least 2 people suffering severe cases of Devonportitis. Incidentally, I haven't made any comments regarding penalties ! I think criticising posts for non-existent poor grammar and punctuation errors, plus the use of capitals to emphasise a point is just plain moronic.

The ! mark needs to be next to the last letter in the word, not a space between. You’ll get there!
