Well done to Stratos today on his refereeing of dev Zebs game.he was not fooled by the constant whinge of the dev players and coach who are just used to always getting decisions their way Other so called senior referees should take note. Behaviour of dev coach on livestream was Appalling

Lions have been incredibly frustrating. They have 2 of the best attacking players on the league. The ladder has them as second highest scoring team yet they are third last. Why? Because they can’t defend at all. Lions Been underachieving for years.

Anonymous said...

@9.05pm. They could defend last year, they were strong back there. What has changed

On paper Lions are one of the stronger sides in the league. This raises questions about their new gaffer. Will he be under pressure soon?

Anonymous said...

The game is played on grass, not on paper.

'F' column is all over the place,
'A ' column tells the story.

Hope you slept well

Lions F column is very good. They have some top players in attack. Lions A column is terrible. They could be pushing for a title with a better defence or is it coaching. ?

Kingbrough need to get rid of the deadwood. Players like Huigsloot are nearly 40 years old. They have some good youngsters coming through in the Berry brothers Jarrod & Jim who need to be given a crack. Also like the looks of young Clif Marsh in the ressies

Dev coach was fortunate to only get a yellow. Watching Dev yesterday made sense of what people have been saying about their diving and winging

Just another terrible performance again from Kingborough. Player/Coach caught out of position lots and looked very shakey. Zero local recruitment in the pre season is showing. No squad depth. And please don't give anyone the whole "they were way better in the second half rubbish".
Worst defence in the league and it costs them. Fix the simple positioning.

My 'F' 'A' comment was not specifically directed at Kingborough but the table in general. Scoring freely against the lower teams is one thing but not conceding against the top teams is what moves you up the ladder.
Sadly you don't see defenders on weetbix packets.

May 27, 2023 at 7:09 PM -- so you really think that the port keeper fouled the zebras forward? when the keeper was in front of the forward? Most coaches would not remain calm in those circumstances.

Anonymous said...

Not sure what Devonport games you watch but if anything they receive the raw deal more often than not which is generally the case for teams on top in all sports but all the unjustified Devonport refereeing bashing needs to stop because it is influencing the referees more and more and they give Devonport less and less each week.

Eagles failed yet again. Lots of unhappy players and people at that club. Maybe time for a change in leadership? Same people left beachside went to eagles and beach are doing well now… coincidence?

Anonymous said...

You sound like someone with a bad case of Devonportitis. You are describing what other clubs have experienced for years. The dev favouritism at Valley road in particular is something that does need to stop.

Anonymous said...

Kingborough should be better placed. Remain unconvinced re coach. Coach or play! Have always beloved in importance of building club culture. Devonport have done it and Kingborough could do it.

> Eagles failed yet again.

Pray tell how they failed? They drew against a team that are consistently in the top 4 which until recent times Eagles haven’t been?

Beach doing well since people left? They’re second bottom and -11 goal difference and from your perspective that’s doing well? Are you standing in your head?

> Change in leadership

What where? Their leadership have recently delivered two premierships in a row, another in champ 1 and women’s champ are currently dominating, I think their leadership is doing a great job by all measurable standards.

As for unhappy players, show me a club that doesn’t have any and I’ll show you a club going backwards

The Devonport addiction is frightening for you humans that cannot go a week without mentioning them. I pray for peace within yourselves. Take care

Tend to agree here. South, Kingborough and Dev have a real team culture. Knights and Launceston City try and buy it.

Good to see another CZebs goal scored vs Dev! So consistent with their scoring!

We are deep into extra time locked at 1-1, the perfect long throw in into the goalmouth, who’s watching the best striker in the league at the moment ? Absolutely nobody has the brain to mark him ,the goalie looking like his gumboot is stuck in the mud in disbelief, bang in it goes and they win again. Just a remarkable effort to never give up unlike their opponents. Don’t get me wrong Devonport were playing like it was a pre season warm up but gee whiz you got to hand it to those boys

Beach are doing well now? What are you smoking?!

Bahahaha they are second bottom on the ladder. And only in their last game did they get their first win.

New Town are 5 points off top with a game in hand. They are still very much in the hunt.

Not to mention the last two titles...

Bahaha you must be a salty Beach supporter I assume..

Every club can develop club culture. Culture does not equate to better performances.
You can have a fantastic club culture but this will not win you games.
People have been going on for years about Kingborough and the great potential .
It doesn't require smart people to recognise that, but it does require smart people to change the direction of the club. Kingborough have been doing the same old same old thing for many years now and do not or will not make changes to improve things . All they do is shuffle people around get the odd new blood into the club but behind the scene nothing changes.
The club either accepts that as fact or they change, but my guess is they wont.

On Saturday morning I had the pleasure of watching the NPL from Kingborough cricket clubs facilities.

Undercover seating, excellent grandstands with superb view, hospitality with canteens and bars open.

The pitch was in perfect condition too.

This is a suburban cricket ground and it is far better than anything we have in southern Tas.

Surely we have to ask why this happening and how we have fallen so far behind in stadium development and maintenance.

Beach have transitioned well into their new brand. Many people at that club will agree - I asked recently and things are going well for them. It’s always more than the senior results.

They have a youth set up and a reasonably younger senior squad comparing to Eagles who is by far the oldest. Eagles average age for their squad this season is 31… this is disastrous when being hunted. No promising young players to keep the club going strong. It’s more like “Dads Army” than a club set up. I wonder what the goals for the club is over the next 5 years - the way eagles are now they could collapse similar to when we went to a statewide competition in 2013, it would kill the club with no set up for the future. You cannot go and recruit the players they have not be clear and somewhat uncatchable. Last 2 seasons, winners - comfortably, league BnF plays in the team.

Are eagles the Tottenham of Tasmania?

Albeit, the clubs in the championship are a glorified social competition with it being an NPL reserve’s competition for the NPL clubs. Too little done across the state and it’s a spot that looks like it will die soon. Where are all the players going to come from?

It’s examples such as this that show how little FT are doing to promote our game. Beats me what they do all week. Nothing much to show from all the big salaries that’s paid to FT employees

Anon 1.03pm
Councils have never given a toss about a non-Australian sport which is and has always been a threat to the Aussie sports like Aussie Rules and Cricket.
The game is treated with disrespect. It always has always will.

Anonymous said...

Well put, hope you got to enjoy a beer too!

Anonymous said...

I heard Adam was playing Sammy L at Fullback? Is that why you are calling for a change?
I do agree about the dad's army comment and no youngsters coming through.

Anonymous said...

FT have never promoted the great game in any way for a decade time for a change o

Anonymous said...

That's laughable - a second class cricket facility shi*ts all over any existing soccer ground we have in the south.

And guess what - no dogs allowed on the surface

Totally agree with the above comments. Enjoyed the game & did manage an ale at half time. Only negative from the game was the 'Ronaldo' celebration by a Souths player,(twice) after scoring. Celebrate in your 'OWN' way Nick !. Enjoy watching you score but not you antics after.
