Vale Emidio Felice Giusti (17 11 1947 - 05 02 2026)
The death occurred in Hobart last week of referee Emidio Giusti, 78.
Emidio was born in Frosolone, Italy, and his famil migrated to Australia in the 1950s.
He first played for Hobart Jiventus and after retiring from playing turned to refereeing.
He had a stint as a referee in the higher leagues but spent many years refereeing in the social leagues and lower levels, where he was often indispensable and part of the scenery.
Many lower league players and teams were grateful to Emidio for always being avaikable to officiate at their games,
Emidio is survived by his wife, Maria, and children Claudio, Roberto and Lorenzo, and he was the father-in-law of Cameron.
Top-flight referee Alfonso Giusti was his nephew.
