Adelaide United 0-1 Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar made it a run of 19 games without a loss when they downed Adelaide United 1-0 away at Hindmarsh Stadium this evening.
Roar have now virtually wrapped up the Premier’s Trophy as they are 11 points ahead of second-placed Adelaide.
And, the visitors were without three key players. Ivan Franjic and Thomas Broich were both injured, while Matt McKay is away with the Socceroos for the Asian Cup tournament.
Adelaide almost took the lead in the 5th minute when Cassio attacked down the left, but his angled shot was turned against the crossbar by Michael Theoklitos.
In the 21st minute, 21-year-old Mitch Nichols went close for Brisbane when he curled a shot just wide of the right-hand post to finish a fine counter-attack that he had initiated in midfield.
The only goal of the match came in the 69th minute. Nichols’s through-ball into the box came off defender Iain Fyfe and fell to Juan Carlos Solorzano on the left of the box. He controlled the ball and fired his shot through the legs of Mark Birighitti and inside the far post.
Substitute Henrique almost added a second for the Roar in the 77th minute, but his shot from the left rebounded into play off the crossbar.
Adelaide were far from finished, however, and came close to scoring twice before the end.
In the 79th minute, a corner from the left saw Sergio Van Dijk head the ball back across goal from beyond the far post, but Theoklitos dived full-length and clawed it out of the 6-yard box, from where it was cleared to safety.
Two minutes from the end, Fyfe chipped from long range and the ball hit the top of the crossbar with Theoklitos unable to reach it.

Well played Roar.
Slightly disappointed with Visconte but he will get another chance.
Bratten stood up and played really well.

OLAF SAID;
I think Adelaide deserved a point there... very unlucky not find an equaliser.
Terrific game,Roar midfield hunted in packs and as a whole team when not in possession.Could of been a draw but slick-quality was just the edge that got the Queenslanders home.Thought Birighitti had good game especially as he hasn`t had any game time ,for obvious reasons...SEASONS GREETING TO ALL MY TASSY FRIENDS!!!!!
