Clarence United
suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat to Hobart Zebras at KGV Park on Saturday night, but
an even bigger loss was the injury to the talented young Cody Snell.
The speedy Snell
was having a good game before being tackled from behind by Matthew Pace just
before half-time and breaking his leg.
Pace was shown a yellow card, but Snell was taken to hospital by
ambulance and is unlikely to play again this season.
Adam Hedge was
returning from injury for Clarence and played at centre-forward. He was shown a yellow card early on to mark
his return after a trailing leg caught Zebras keeper Sam Whatman.

Pace put Zebras
ahead midway through the opening half, while Mathew Sanders grabbed the first
of four goals on the night when he made it 2-0 just past the half-hour mark.
Sanders completed
his hat-trick before half-time to make it 4-0 at the break.
Former Zebras
Lachlie Burt pulled a goal back for Clarence in the 58th minute, but
Zebras replied on the hour-mark through substitute Adam McKeown.
Sanders completed
the scoring in the final minute when he converted a pass from Riley Dillon to
net his fourth goal of the evening.
Clarence had few
chances during the match other than Burt’s goal, which promoted Zebras coach
David Smith to take off keeper Whatman when leading 4-1 and giving back-up
custodian Nathan Reid a bit of game time.

"We were pretty
ordinary on the night, but we are lucky to have Matt Sanders, whose finishing was
clinical,” said Zebras coach, David Smith.
“We are pleased
to get the result and to have come out of the game relatively injury free.
“We had to patch
together a side tonight with Tommy Huigsloot, Henry Fagg and Dwayne Walsh not
having trained all week, and a few more only trained Thursday.
“The week off
will be good to enable us to get rest a few early in the week and build up to
our next game.
“I thought
Clarence are much better organised now and worked harder on and off the ball.”

Riverside have being a major flop lot's of talk before the season not up to standard, Football Tasmania talking them and Launceston United up yesterday those guys are so out of touch it's scary .
Rumour has it Sunday could be leaving Zebras in search of more gametime now hes coming back into full fitness. I personally hope he doesn't but can understand why. Would be a handy pick-up for any club looking for a goalscorer.

Clarence do seem a bit more organised and composed on the ball. I really do believe they are only a few players away from being of an acceptable standard. Hallard, Sunday etc. are players Warren should look to pluck away from their clubs. All the best Warren keep fighting away!
Quite sad about Snell I hope he recovers well ! Just as things seem to be somewhat improving Clarence takes such a big hit loosing Snell and Demar

He's here on a short stay similarly to Isky at South. I'm pretty sure they're both due to leave anytime now
Watching fft tv that tackle on Snell.can't understand why it wasn't a Red its a tackle from behind the zebras player no were near the ball shocking
Because the intention was to win the ball... yes the tackle was from behind but there was never intent to injure. Yellow card was fair outcome for snell unlucky
Isnt tackling from behind banned nowadays as dangerous play its perceived
