Hobart Zebras host Devonport City at 2pm on Sunday at KGV Park in the quarterfinals of the Lakoseljac Cup.
It will be the third meeting between
the sides in recent weeks.
In the two league encounters, Zebras
beat Devonport 2-1 at KGV Park, while the sides drew 1-1 at Valley Road last
weekend.
This indicates that this cup tie will
be a close game and extra-time may well be required.
Zebras will have Nicky Edwards back
from suspension, while Devonport may be without central-defender Guillermo
Lazcano, who has had visa problems and had to leave the country.
Reports in The Advocate suggested he
may be back in time for Sunday’s game.
Devonport, the holders of the Lakoseljac
Cup, will give this game everything they have because the winner of the rophy
goes into the FFA Cup Round-of-32.
South Hobart face another Southern
Championship side when they meet Taroona away at Kelvedon Park tomorrow
[Saturday] at noon.
In the previous round, South Hobart eliminated
another Southern Championship outfit in Hobart United with two late goals in a
3-1 win.
South Hobart coach, Ken Morton, said
his side was confident but they would treat Taroona with respect.
He watched them play New Town Eagles
last weekend and said they had some good players.
South Hobart will again be without
the injured Alex Walter, Darcy Hall and Declan Foley, which will enable some
youngsters to step up.
Last week, in the 3-3 draw with
Olympia Warriors, South Hobart used youngsters Bradley Lakoseljac, Ewan Larby
and Kasper Hallam to good effect.
Sam Berezansky also came on as a late
substitute and may get a run against Taroona.
The experienced striker Jack Turner recently
called it quits for South Hobart, while this week, striker Alexander Leszczynski
also left the club after limited game time and has joined Glenorchy Knights.

Taroona team manager Duncan Carey
said his club had some injuries going into this game but a giant-killing feat was
not out of the question.
He said Kelvedon Park was sometimes
known as ‘the graveyard’ by visiting teams and home-ground advantage could count
for something against opponents of the calibre of South Hobart.
In the two other quarterfinals,
Olympia Warriors host Riverside Olympic at Warrior Park at 4.30pm tomorrow
[Saturday], and Somerset welcome University to Shark Park in an all-Championship
league clash.
The Warriors should be far too strong
for their NPL Tasmania opponents, but the Somerset versus University clash
should be a close contest.
