Can't remember the last time Dev conceded 3. Feels like years ago. Dev still should be fairly comfortable favourites, but atleast we know they can be beaten - City and Kingborourgh Women getting their season back on track too, decent afternoon of football
So Devonport don't get ref favours an all u hear is abuse from their bench "south injure players on purpose " remember when strikers were tough

The odd good performance but generally average.
I think what South did better in this match & certainly the second half was defend as a group. They seemed to have learnt from Brody Denehy's excellent goal for Port - he got past two pretty limp tackles - and they started to defend in groups of 3 and backed each other up. They've been at their best in the past when they've done that. The match was mostly a scrappy midfield battle with some nice bits of combination play. South players also managed a greater level of composure in front of goal. Nick's goal is a good example, he thought about checking back onto his right foot, but instead belted it with some power. Port looked strangely vulnerable to the long ball for the first time for a long time. Young Fidra caused them problems with his pace, he has a bit to learn & needs to grow the confidence to shoot when in good positions but Kenny will help him develop further, hopefully..
Dev coach is an embarrassment to the club. No wonder some players winge and appeal to the ref for everything as it all starts from him. I remember when dev were tough. Most of the squad is imports or from Launceston. It’s been a good run from dev The wheels are slowly coming off at dev. The better team and better coach clearly won yesterday. Dev still however get more than their share of soft free kicks from mr code

Remember when 2 dev players tried to clean up fidra in cup final in first few minutes. South the better football team yet again and this time got there rewards.
Nick Taylor must be coach of the year in the Southern Championship. He has South East improving all the time.

He is the one that governs that club until they move him on they won't have any of the community behind them
South east aren’t incredible
Last time a local team scored 3 or more v Devonport was State Lg August 12th 2018 Once again it was South who ran out winners 3-2.
They have had 4 put past them but this has been in NPL Australia play-offs and Australia Cup (recently 0-4v Wellington Phoneix). To find a bigger score than 3 from a local side we have to go back to Aug 5th 2017, guess who, South won 6-0 (Devonport were 3rd whilst South topped the roster).
Checking on the unbeaten run, Port lost round 2 v Knights in 2022. They then had a run of 16 wins interrupted by draw with K Lions (2-2). Ignoring the Wellington Phoneix match they had another 10 wins before 2-2 draw this season with Clarence Zebs. That was followed by 14 wins up until this weekend. Playing in local competitions it was 42 unbeaten games
The sort of results most clubs would be happy with.
I believe Souths 2010-2011 record was 63, made easier as we did not complete against clubs outside the state apart from a few friendlies.
Interesting to see how South East go after Callum Brown leaves this month. Without question one of the best players in Tasmania. I don’t think they’ve won a game he hasn’t played in.
Moment I seen Zebs import defender not gear up, I knew it’ll be hard for Zebs to see the finish line with a win. In the previous game.. he didn’t give their forwards a chance ..
Your dead right about the zeb defender import but in all honesty they didn’t have any opposition the previous game

Credit to South for beating an undermanned Devonport side when was the last time they beat them 2021?

Been in the state for a few years now watching the strikers and have to say the worst I've seen devonport strikers whinge at almost every challenge in the game against South when they were down. Where is the Devonport that got on with it and played football, their coach is the problem bad culture developing and not a good look for the young ones, well played south
Callum Brown will score more goals for South East in half a season than both his brothers combined will for Uni in a whole season
You are 100% spot on. And the coach is leaving out good Devonport players who respect the shirt and is replacing them with outsiders who are no better.

Maybe the other should have a crack at the top job on his own ?
Don't think that will go down too well however.
They are now in a predicament that whatever they do they will upset one group and if they go the other way will upset the others.
Maybe they can merge with Olympia next year ?
Not sure what Declan and Lockie have done to deserve being pulled into this
