Not a bad game to watch. Beachside controlled the game for the first 80 minutes and looked very strong in the back 3 before tiring and conceeding a late one. Olympia played with good pace but lacked some midfield grunt and creativity. Some very experienced beachside players showed some of the younger Olympia players how to keep possession and let the ball do the work. Good luck to both teams for the season.
From what I saw Coxy alot of young kids for Olympia....no Tsakiris boys, no Nester, no Bulis......I think Lee Mason and Hugh Richardson played, they were the only 2 players that I recognised from last years squad....Looks as if the younger players will need to earn their stripes to have any chance of the club challenging for trophies.....have heard rumours that the Tsakiris brothers may not be playing anymore.....big blow to the club losing both, they would be like part of the furniture down there, seems that Olympia could do with their experience.
rumour round the campfire is hay rang up jono ladic to see if he was willing to put on the blue strip, but after reports of ladic looking overweight in a south friendly against sth melbourne, he may think twice
look for olympia to raid the knights fringe players and reserves. ben peters, chalky russell jayden wiggins all likely to go as kelly will never give them a look in due to personal differences
insider- your just about on the money, i was coming back to just confirm that my last statement wasn't a rumour. actual confrimation. out of that motley crew you mentioned, jack marsh has also been linked with a training session with clarence, to escape the clutches of eamonn
All this result suggests is that Beachside have benefitted greatly from their 3 practice hitouts with Sth Hobart. Far too early to write off Chris Hey's first year in charge - he's too good for that.
8Balls, even an overweight Jon Ladic would be welcome at any SPL team not just Olympia.
Personal differences? I can't see any of those players leaving Knights. Chalky is no more than a decent reserves player, Wiggy too careless with the ball and Ben Peter just plain unlucky to lose his spot to an arrogant child.
the benny peters saga i agree with- i believe the personal differences should be pointed to eamonn kelly. abuses his players, doesn't reward them with solid training and performance, yet gets enraged when one of the players consider looking for gameplay elsewhere
I have it from a good source that there is no chance in hell of the Tsakiris boys retiring this year. They will both play an important elder statesmen role in the rebuild of Olympia this year.
First goal was definitely an own goal! I was there and saw it. Beachside attacker missed a simple header from a cross and pushed it straight into the post. The ball deflected to the opposite side of the goals where it was unfortunately kicked in by Jayden Hey whilst attempting to clear it.
Would hardly think an own goal or any goal for that matter in a scrimmage of 3 x 30 minute halves of football in January here in Tasmania would constitute a "senior goal in football"
surely marsh could go for a whole pair of boots. others to include him there may be his former teammates from a different code include the cat colgrave, big al, g kearney, b marsland, mick thomas and nathan nugget morley
Kenny morton approached Peters to play with south but was told he won't leave because he loves Eamonn bagging him and doing everything for his club, so morton invited next best thing from knights in Tatnell. Apparently Tatnell is training with South.
Tatnell is ordinary, Ben Peter should be no doubt playing in goal at Knights. Olympic will no doubt have both tsakiris' on board but doubts around goalkeeper nester as to whether he has committed yet or not. Whispers Fletcher Tracy back and signing again with Olympic!
fletch will no doubt walk right into any senior squad- but- the ex iso stalwart is headed to nelson with his his little cronies in tow, he is relishing the chance to play with nobbits, boney bob and cliff
Olympia, what a joke. Sonds like the Committee have not change much, still full of excuses. They should get ready for relegation "no hope this year boys"

I beleive Jayden Wiggins has trained with Metro FC the last couple sessions so maybe a move is on the cards for the player's mentioned above.
metro will have to make room in the changerooms for pilly, and find a partner for laserbeak.

A certain div 1 coach did contact corey smith to play for his club but corey stated- "if i left knights- they'd lose!"

cahill, the first goal came off the far post, across the face of the goalmouth where Klasen was on hand to tap in.
olympia handed a lesson yesterday.
they'll need the tsakiris boys back, especially peter.
he may be waiting for adam powell to leave first.
Is there friction between P Tsakiris and A Powell?
which comes first?
Cahill what do you mean? which came first?

would that make it his first goal in senior football then?

fletch will no doubt walk right into any senior squad- but- the ex iso stalwart is headed to nelson with his his little cronies in tow, he is relishing the chance to play with nobbits, boney bob and cliff
I doubt even Tatts couldnt see that a move to South Hobart would open doors for him - to U19's football that is! sorry Alex
BTW happy new year Captain - hope to catch up soon
the priest and the captain sitting in a tree..... the man with a 100 names
