Was good hearing some atmosphere at KGV tonight.

Huigi and Holmes very good in centre of defence.

Glenorchy did well, as for Melbourne they need an injection of quality players after what we saw with the Hellas.

The Hellas will flog Melbourne.

Sth Hobart would of beaten Melbourne Knights

Well done Googsy as soon as Corey started getting out of hand he pulled him in to line and the Knights were better for it.

Good play by Corey to win the penatly, the centre back was worried about everything else, undisaplined.

Hats off to Sth Hobart and Olympia for last weekend for bring the Hellas over.

The class difference is enormous between Sth Melbourne Hellas and Melbourne Knights.

Melbourne Knights will struggle this year. Quality is just not there and that comes from Duzel he really has little to no idea. Decent player in his time, that's it.

once again our TIS coach courts controversy with lack of judgement and failure to follow due process.

Is it within his appointed role to invite ex TIS players (some, not all), regardless of whether they previously withdrew or were cut from the program, to play in such a game? (One one these players wasn't even an ex-scholarship holder).

Why did he not liaise with Clubs that these players are now part of prior to doing this?

It would be interesting to know the arrangements for liaibility caused through participation in the games.

Apparently some Clubs were so upset that they demanded their players not participate - damage done to Club/player and Club/TIS relationships.

These players names were advised to media but they did not take the field.

Whilst some others were left wondering at the lack of consistency and transparency that meant such an opportunity could pass them by .

Thought Huigsloot was quality for Knights, as well as Holmes. A drab match, but a tirelesss encounter from the knights boys, who lost their way only in the last few. Thought Melb Knights were poor finishers

one result not mentioned here was Geoerge Mamacas in a 1:1 shootout over 5 penalites at Warrior Park. George won 4-2 not having to take his 5th kick. This event was followed by an intraclub match on the new surface with Josh fielding, Mike McKenna, Luke Cripps and Seth Otte taking part. Rumour is George will be brought on in the last minute of any future cup matches heading for a draw - as a goalie and penalty taker.

At least Knights didn't lose 9-0 to similar quality of what Olympia played.

Please tell me that isnt the Glenorchy Knights Premier League squad for 2011?

Langdale, Griffin, Bologna, Grainger, Robb, Russell, Collins and Garth...

If these players are premier players then we are miles off a state league.

Smith, Holmes, Huigsloot, Googsy and Peter are in for a tough season.

Knights cant get on the blog and have a go at clubs like Kingborough, Olympia, Beachside & New Town fielding sides like that.

God Melbourne Knights must have been rubbish

Disappointing turnout to watch a dreadfull football match but credit to GK for showing discipline in parking the bus. Clearly outclassed man for man but always had enough bodies back when it mattered and benefited greatly from Melb's attacking ineptitude.

Couldn't belive the gulf in quality between these lads and the Hellas guys. With respect, Amadu didnt look out of his class in this company.

Ben Peter man of the match despite his generally poor disposal while Holmes was also good for the locals.
Huigi was just ok but did anyone else think he had a doppelganger playing for Melb?.

Heard a whisper that the younger Huigi might on the move with Sth Hobart as his destination.

Brilliant performance by Glenorchy Knights when you think they were under manned and believe me they have more than just T.Sherman to come in (watch this space) and it was also their first real hit out

Knights showed a lot of ticker and stood up to a much more quality side. If Melbourne Knights could finish, they would have won 10-1. Great goalkeeping and defensive efforts from the Knights, they were under the pump the whole game!

Anon 23 Jan 10.18 . Huigsloot & Holmes class ????
Which game were you watching ? Holmes gave the ball away about a dozen times .He was atrocious and soft for a guy his size.He seems to want to play free all the time and have the other smaller defenders do his hard work for him. And Huigsloot hardly touched the ball.Every pass or header went out of play ot to the opposition.

Knights did very well against a tough side. Benny Played on one leg most of the game hurting his groin in the 1st half, didn't play with TIS team today. back four helped with good structure will be hard to penetrate if they keep it up.

yeah roy, well done glenorchy, you've brought a bit of respectability back with that result. I'm a bit disturbed by kevin muscat;s tackle and
i'm more perturbed by seeing this thug still in the game...The media has glorified this guy in the past as a stalwart of the game. All he;s done is gone out to hurt and maik........shocking

The most entertaining part of this match was the flare being set off at the end of the match. South Hobart would have beaten this Melbourne Knights team.

anon 7:49, you seem to be disagreeing with everyone that has had a say on this matter. Holmes and Huigsloot were best afield for the Knights, both lead by example and restricted a Victorian Premier League team from scoring for the majority of the match. You seem to be clueless; lets remember, these sorts of teams train 5 days a week. They are paid players. Whilst Holmes distribution was average if not poor, he remained extremely solid. Huigsloot stopped numerous goals with his head, and actually gave the ball to the right players. Why would they be willing to knock the ball to a player who isn't up to this standard? Knights had half a dozen blokes in the squad who simply were not up to the standard required. Would you knock the ball to them? Don't think so. None the less, Holmes and Huigsloot tried to play where possible.

It will be interesting to see who is still to come into the Knights squad. They do need more quality, to be serious contenders in the league.

Broaden your horizons mate, because your comment is clueless and ignorant; not to mention bloody stupid.

lol guy second from right in glenorchy knights back row is on his tippy toes. Short man syndrome much? :)

Holmesy had a superb game and so did Huigy and the rest of our back 4 in the game. Matt Russell also played well defensively. Passing let us down with the ball but that is always going to happen when your playing your 2nd game of pre-season with an under-manned squad against VPL opposition. Also need to consider that when we were as defensive as we were in patches and under pressure, there were few option for the centre halves when they were in posession. Well fought boys. Thanks to the club for bringing quality opposition down. There needs to be more of it. Some FFT support in helping with squads etc would not go a stray for sundays game though!!

Astonishing to hear excuses from GK people about a lack of preparation for Friday's game and organsiastion for Sunday's.

Why are clubs arranging these tours when they aren't (with the exception of Sth Hob) preparing properly for them.

Shows a lack of respect in my book.

Anonymous said...

Knights had two practice matches cancelled due to ground conditions, totally out of their control.

You are the one lacking respect.

Lol Chalk get off your tippy toes

Sth Hobart had games called off too. But they trained 3 and 4 teams a week with the senior squad and the younger ones trained up to 10 times a week since early early November. Even trained on boxing Fay and over the new year period. To say ur lack of preparation wad due to two games being called off is a ridiculous. Obviously the knights group is not going to train sth, different environment. But don't short change urself and winge about the weather!!!

anon 7.17 get serious mate your a joke

Well training boxing day didn't help South they got smashed 5-0.

I'm pretty sure I had better things to do boxing day.
