Hobart went down 3-1 to Pascoe Vale in Melbourne this afternoon in a pre-season
friendly.
Pascoe Vale
led 2-0 at the interval and then 3-0 before Tobias Herweynen pulled a goal back
for the visitors.
South
Hobart coach Ken Morton was pleased with his side’s performance against tough
opposition.
“We had two
or three goalmouth scrambles which got away from us but which should have gone
in,” said Morton.
“On their
first attack, they shot from 20 metres and our keeper was unsighted. I think Loic Feral might have been
obstructing his view.
“Their
second came when we didn’t get a clearance away and they got a cross in and a good
header from inside the box.
“They then
got their third at the start of the second half through a break down the
right-hand side and a lad got into the box and scored.
“We got one
back through Tobias Herweynen after a great right-wing move and a back-post
cross and he was there to score.
“We then
had a few more good chances.
“When I
look at our side and I think we had five players that were starters last year,
I’m quite pleased.
“Pascoe
were saying the same, namely that they were probably better this year than last
year at this time.
“To be
honest, I was quite happy.”
Morton said
it was hot and the ground was a little bumpy.
South
Hobart gave a debut to a new Danish signing, centre-half Rasmus Philipsen, who
played well after just one week in Tasmania.
“He’s a
young lad who is quite composed and tall,” Morton said.
South
Hobart’s forward line was comprised of Pajari Sculthorpe in the middle, Bradley
Lakoseljac on the left and Anthony Legendre on the right.
“Pajari
came off at half-time because he did his ankle,” Morton said.
South
Hobart travel to Valley Road next weekend to take on Devonport City in a
pre-season friendly.

Really starting to get sick of the word IMPORT ! it’s about time all the clubs that use it replace it with Local Junior !
I agree Paul you are dead right there should be a cap on these bought players or some type of age limit maybe to at least encourage clubs to do more to develop there own junior football kids ! Its a shame that its the richer the club the more they rely on bought players from anywhere . Its just a given that low cash strapped clubs like Clarence etc will be gone in the future because they cant afford to buy players to keep them in the NPL . Really sad actually !
