Competitive football resumes in Tasmania on 11 July
after a three-month shut-down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The weekend of 11 July will see games in the
Lakoseljac Cup, the Women’s State-wide Cup and the Under-20s State-wide Cup.
The roster competitions will resume the following
weekend.
Several clubs were involved in pre-season
friendlies this weekend.
Last night, South Hobart beat Taroona 6-0 at KGV
Park through goals by Berezansky (2), Tooze, Lakoseljac, Kemp and Walpole.
Today at KGV Park, Glenorchy Knights beat Olympia
Warriors 3-0 in an NPL pre-season game, while Glenorchy Knights drew 3-3 with
New Town White Eagles in a Championship pre-season friendly.

Liverpool has at last been declared the 2019-20
EPL champions.
Manchester City effectively handed Liverpool their
first EPL title when City lost 2-1 to Chelsea.
That meant that Liverpool could not be overtaken,
with seven rounds remaining.
The title ended a 30-year league-winning drought
for Liverpool, which last won a league title in 1990 (the First Division title).
It’s been a successful four years for manager
Jurgen Klopp, though, as Liverpool also won the Champions League title last season,
their sixth in the elite European competition, which was once the European Cup
and then became the Champions League.

Australia and New Zealand have been awarded
hosting rights for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which will involve 32 nations.
Launceston’s UTAS Stadium has been listed as a
possible venue.
It will be interesting to see if any group games
will be held there as the stadium was ranked bottom in a list of potential
venues.
It has been suggested that Tasmania may be the
training base for some teams.
The World Cup is still just over two years away,
so we’ll have to wait and see what eventuates.
Australia has twice hosted the FIFA Under-20 World
Cup -
in 1981 and 1993.

Knights to good Sherman have them pumping. Olympia are way over rated big time. Will finish 4th. Look for the capitulation and the Browns finished and gone before this short season is over. I cant wait. You read it here first.
Was there anyone not playing for Knights that could be as they have no depth from watching the Champ game against White Eagles.
Pre season games results not always a true indication of ability and what will happen
during the season . However Olympia were poor before the COVID-19 break and Di
not appear to have improved judging by this performance.
Trouble at Olympia this season.
I hope the English don't qualify and if the do stick them in the hot venues around the country.
How rude of them to vote against Australia/New Zealand bid. Nothing but scumbags.
Mick Molloy went even further on the MMM afternoon show.
Do not judge Olympia by one game. Im no senior Brown fan but to carry on like the above is a bit premature based on one game.
Anon 6.42pm. Did you watch any of their games prior to the Covid interruption?
I would say not.
