Taroona tore Clarence Zebras apart in their Southern Championship Summer Cup clash at KGV Park this evening.

Taroona led 4-0 at half-time and added a fifth after the break, while Clarence Zebras’ consolation goal came from a Dwayne Walsh free-kick.

Jake Stuart ran riot on the right wing for Taroona and he set up the first two goals with accurate crosses delivered to William Darling and Matthew Nowicki.

Nowicki completed his brace to make it 3-0 while Hugh Foley hit Taroona’s fourth just before the interval.

Stuart capped a fine display by netting Taroona’s fifth goal in the second half, while Walsh grabbed a consolation goal for Clarence Zebras with an accurate set-piece.

The game kicked off half an hour earlier than the scheduled 6.30pm start to avoid any problems with the floodlights.

At North Chigwell, with its excellent lighting, the game between Metro and South Hobart kicked off at the scheduled time of 6.30pm.

Metro matched South Hobart blow for blow for most of the first half, with Josh Divin giving the visitors the lead and Bradleigh Ayres equalising with a long-range chip over South Hobart keeper Nathan Reid.

South Hobart then clicked into gear and scored four goals in 10 minutes before the interval.

Divin finished with a hat-trick and Sam Tooze with a brace, including one direct from a corner.

South Hobart’s remaining goal was an own-goal.

Metro had out-field player Joshua Newell in goal.

Kye McQueen was steady at the back for Metro but he was unable to stem the tide on his own.

South Hobart had Loic Feral and Declan Foley on view.  Foley was substituted before the end after suffering a knock to the head which necessitated a bandage.
