Taroona beat South Hobart 3-2 tonight at KGV Park in the Southern Championship League Cup competition.

Josiah Otto gave South Hobart the lead after only 2 minutes.

But, Taroona’s Argentine winger, Ramiro Vilar, then took over and dominated the contest for the rest of the half.

The left-footed Vilar gave an indication of what was to come when he rattled the South Hobart crossbar with a thunderous shot.

In the 21st minute, South Hobart’s goalkeeper, Michael Hurd, was unable to hold a Vilar free-kick from the right and Fabian Natoli knocked in the loose ball to make it 1-1.

Three minutes later, Vilar was again the provider for Fergus Bridge to make it 2-1 for Taroona.

In stoppage time at the end of the half, Vilar completed an impressive first-half display by netting for Taroona to give them a 3-1 lead at the interval.
