Great win by riverside today. Good job securing a top six finish especially against some of the bankrolls behind the other clubs ahead of them

Anonymous said...

Top 6 or bottom 3?

Anonymous said...

Riverside to claim some Northern pride and roll South at the end of the month? Bogey team for South. City should send some special pasta their way.

Anonymous said...

How Devonport have fallen off. Totally outclassed today did they even give it a go? Sat back and could have conceided a lot more

Anonymous said...

Top 6 hahaha

Anonymous said...

Bankrolls haha like signing 6 imports and three keepers in one season hahahaha

Anonymous said...

Riverside have broken the record for the biggest spend for the lowest finish.

Anonymous said...

Devonport will be lucky to finish 4th. Looked very pedestrian and slow in defence. Still number 1 in the complaining department tho

Anonymous said...

Yes great win riverside. 1-0 against the bottom side who have won 1 game all year and are hopeless. All that money was worth it to maybe finish 6th lol

Devonport back line is so slow. They are big bodies but immobile and don’t have the quality overlapping left and right backs anymore that other top 3 teams have. All teams go through rebuilding, but will be interesting to see if they stay mid table for seasons on end now the golden patch is ended. Plus, travelling every second weekend an hour to 3 hours away would be a killer when local kids can play AFL in countey leagues and get paid a mint.

There’s not been a side who’s touched up Devonport and SH like this City side have in these last two weeks, last night was boys v men they had no tactical answers ,very similar to last weeks game, unfortunately City have to rely on Dev beating SH can not see that after last night. Time to ask some questions over the coach at Dev spends some serious $$ and finishing 4th possibly 5th is not good enough.

Ackerly, Burt and Tooze have absolutely zero attacking abilities and the centre backs couldn't stop an under 10's front line , they had a chance yesterday but could not even hold a ball or string 2 passes together, my God what a shame

Anonymous said...

Too bad they probably won't win anything this year and all their player's will leave next year.

Anonymous said...

That team has also beaten city twice this year.

Anonymous said...

When you’ve got a great culture and a coach who players respect they want to stick around funnily enough, who left them last season … ? All their players lol Clearly have zero idea of what you’re talking about, from my knowledge talking to people within their club that couldn’t be further from the truth, so I guess that they can go again next season if they don’t win it this year. Which I agree is unlikely because of how Bad Devonport have become. When Devonport dominated for all them years Ken Morton never let SH slip out of the top 3 interesting to see even with x amount of players some sides can’t do the same… some coaches are just better than others.

How much $ has the Devonport coach used this year? Keyboard analysts please let me know a rough accurate figure.

Ray Carroll said...

Ever since Bidwell got his marching orders they have looked very average.

Anonymous said...

They’re building. Can see a big jump next year. Maybe challenging for the title

Anonymous said...

1.17 unsure how much would signing 10 plus players cost?, We will never know but you’d imagine these lads don’t leave the mainland for free to go to the NW coast of Tasmania

Anonymous said...

They do when you have Tom B as coach. Haven’t you seen what his done in the wsl. A tactical genius. Port will be back next season with some new imports that can implement toms tactics. And if not he will get some new ones. I heard ulvie is relying on this - a constant turnover of dev imports

Anonymous said...

Agree with above comment. Can the keyboard analysts please provide an approx. $$ each team has spent?

People seem to know so much but can never provide any quantifiable numbers? "Riverside spent so much to finish 6th", "Dev spent so much to finish 4th"..

Go on, how much are they spending? And how much are they spending compared to the top 2 teams SH and Launnie city?

Anonymous said...

Lions have being lucky this season Devonport Strikers and Glenorchy Knights both dropped of big time .

From 2024 season the results flatter Kingbourgh Lions.

Anonymous said...

What did Bidwell do to get 7 games? Its the longest suspension I can remember and heard nothing more about it

Anonymous said...

Lost his head and tried to brawl someome then got put on his ass

“Anonymous 7:51am”

Can you get in contact with those analysts and ask how much South, Knights, Boro, River City have spent in relation to titles won?

SH last won the league in 2017 I believe?

Boro..? I’ll wait

Knights won it last year and before that 2021?

Riverside…? City…title before the state league was formed idk. They’ve been praised in recent years for finishing in the top 4? Can’t tell me Clarke doesn’t get a pay cheque? Along with the 2 cbs, Japanese, swaby and Taylor? Plus whoever is getting $$ on the team. You think Sys wouldn’t be paid much travelling an hour and back during the week to coach? Please put a cork in it if you think city don’t spend $$

And how many titles have Dev won in the last 9 years? I believe it’s 6? Have your analysts look into that will ya

Anonymous said...

I presume the above assumption is due to the number of players both DS and RO have signed compared to other sides is the reason they believed they’ve spent a lot of dollar which you can see makes sense logically, no one is going to have a exact figure I think their point is that if they bring in all these players and don’t compete for a title then the blame lays with the coach and his ability to coach and manage them signings they bring in ? Just my take on what the above are stating.

Anonymous said...

Kingborough lost their 3 best players and managed to not drop off significantly, clearly they are just better then knights and port

Anonymous said...

Borough have been happy to sit 11 players in goal box and defend a 1-0 lead for 70min for years and makes you wonder why the club haven’t won any silverware

Compared to Dev SH GK and City there always thinking let’s get a second goal

Anonymous said...

Rhodesy they have beaten Dev 3/3 times this season. Give credit where credit is due.

Anonymous said...

Ulvie? State League? This can’t be serious? Expanding a two tier comp already is asking for its demise.

Anonymous said...

612 heard the same rubbish last year. And the year before that.

Anonymous said...

Kemp was a big loss. They were able to keep there other best players which is why they will finish higher than last year

Anonymous said...

1128. Surely you realise that even Lonny United players get paid. And way over the top what they are wirth

Also a interesting point when DS were dominating in the years of 2016 - 2021

Was it not due to their local core of players rather than excessive players coming in ? They may of had 2 imports per season before 2021

I believe every club spends money but you can physically see the vast amount that DS and SH and Riverside have signed that the only side actually rectifying that amount of players is currently SH hence why people are challenging the coaches of DS and RO I feel like that’s fair of people to do so at any level of football ?

Looking at Boro and LC it would seem they have signed the least amount ? Boro losing Kemp Hess Eli and LC have added the Japenese FB and Taylor and Simeoni has come back for a short spell, Boro Ponce Kim Pitt McShane, I won’t name every player DS and RO have signed or it will be a Essay but I guess you can see why people are asking questions of those coaches.

The other side of it is that recruitment is surely a big part of the role and if they get that wrong who’s at fault ?

Anonymous said...

Deadly serious. My mail is ten teams and ulvie a shoe in

Anonymous said...

Petty immature irrelevant comments in many posts above about who spends what and who doesn’t. It has been happening since the 70s if not before. I am guessing that the silly comments are from those who think they know but really don’t know anything. Please give it up . It is embarrassing.

Anonymous said...

I just read that someone thinks Ulvie would give their closest neighbour a run for their money. They aren’t even on top of the Northern League. Geez we are clutching at straws to put another few teams into the NPL.

Anonymous said...

Ulverstone united

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately they’d have no hope with their current squad. Been to a few of their games when visiting the area. Slow, unfit and rather clueless at senior level. Not ready without major change unfortunately.

Anonymous said...

The answer is not adding two more teams, it’s removing 1 from Launceston and 1 from Hobart. 6 teams playing each other home and away twice. Simple.

Anonymous said...

I also heard Ulverstone were going to sign both of the Bidwell boys should they get into the NPL.

Anonymous said...

Got a familiar ring to it. Lonny United finished 3rd in Northern champ when they got the golden ticket. And look at them. Still hopeless. Rangers would beat them easy

Anonymous said...

6 teams creates a very boring league, no one wants to play the same teams every week, remove launie or clearance and add south east

Anonymous said...

Guaranteed to Ulverstone. Charles felt let down and a lack of support by the strikers and especially Tom when they did not fight/appeal his suspension.

Anonymous said...

Yes heard Ulverstone have some rich sponsors coming in to inject cash into the side! Going to be the richest NC side for sure

I posted this original comment.

Anon 11:28am - I got a headache reading your post, I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say.

Annon 11:59am - I do agree with what your saying here, that broadly speaking imports = money. But I do also think teams like Dev and SH, yes players are paid, but players also want to win. I certainly would take a pay cut to play at a more successful team, and I can imagine a lot of players just want NPL glory as opposed to money. Imports maybe slightly different here as if they've moved to Tassie maybe they want money.. Or potentially a Laka cup to be put on national stage?

My comment was more so in regard to the YEARS of complaints regarding Dev, SH and Knights etc. with people non-stop arguing about money.. Yes it absolutely happens, but how people compare $$ spent between clubs I have never once seen an actual value.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. Likely from people who were never good enough to get paid.

Anonymous said...

Same issue would occur. South East are successful because they have the best players who don't want to play NPL. I suspect a large number of their playing group would leave if they were promoted. I don't think there is enough talent to have 8 strong NPL teams in Tas.

Hi my name is Ben,

I believe my good mates Eddie and Charles are worth 5k a week + bonuses, any club in the north west coast of Tasmania care to offer such a thing ?

Thank you

Ben

Anonymous said...

Agreed. Charles left and went to the UK he was that let down. He is a true red.

Anonymous said...

At least each game would be competitive than rocking up knowing a win is on the cards.
