South Hobart appear well on the way to the 2025 NPL Tasmania title.
They have five games remaining and lead second-placed Launceston City by 8 points, although City have a game in hand.
The two sides meet on Saturday at South Hobart Oval and City must win to keep alive their title challenge.
City striker Angus Taylor is on fire and scored four goals on the weekend.
He was born in Australia but moved to France as a youngster and was playing in Florida. USA, when he signed for City.
He could hold the key to Saturday’s game and South Hobart will have to neutralise him if they are to win.
South Hobart played their third game in succession on Friday night at KGV Park and beat hosts Glenorchy Knights 2-0 through goals by Nick Morton and one of their former players, Austin Yost.
Knights didn’t help their cause when Nick Naden had a penalty saved by South keeper, Nick O’Connell.
Nor did they when they had Anthony Mamic sent off in the closing minutes.
Launceston City made light work of Clarence Zebras, winning 12-3 at home at Prospect.
The puzzling factor is, how could they score a dozen goals and yet concede three?
That’s a bit of a worry going into the South Hobart game.
Thierry Swaby also scored four times so they seem to have ample firepower, but there seem to be chinks in their defence.
Launceston United grabbed only their second league win of the season with a 3-1 away triumph over Riverside Olympic.
Yaya Toure netted a brace and former Kingborough and Taroona player Ramiro Vilar got the third. He is a skilful player and its good to seem back in the top flight.
Kingborough Lions United made it a hat-trick of wins over Devonport City this season when they came back from 2-0 down to beat the North-West Coast outfit 3-2 with three late goals, including two by teenage sensation Rowan Pitt.
He is the son of former star Tasmanian representative Craig Pitt.
The Lions leapfrogged Devonport into third place as a result of this win.
