Glenorchy Knights to face depleted Riverside Olympic

Glenorchy Knights should have little trouble in staying top of the NPL Tasmania standings as they entertain bottom-side Riverside Olympic at 4.30pm on Saturday at KGV Park.

Riverside are in deep trouble after having three of their best players sent off last weekend.

Todd Michell, Fletcher Fulton and Tom Prince were all sent off in the 4-4 draw with Kingborough Lions United and are suspended.

It would have been a difficult task against Knights anyway, with three of their best players absent, Riverside have little chance of coming away with anything.

Knights suffered a shock 2-2 draw with Olympia Warriors last weekend and will seek to rectify the situation this weekend.

They already have the best goal-difference in the league and may well improve on it on Saturday.

Second-placed Devonport Strikers take on sixth-placed Clarence Zebras at Wentworth Park at 2.15pm on Saturday.

Devonport should be at full strength and must be favoured to win against a young opponent.

Riley Dillon is Clarence Zebras’ main striker weapon and although he may well score, Devonport should come out on top.

Third-placed South Hobart and fourth-ranked Kingborough Lions United meet at the latter’s Lightwood Park home at 6.30pm on Saturday.

Kingborough are in erratic form, while South Hobart are grinding out results that keep them in the title hunt.

If Kingborough play to their strengths, they could win, especially now that Greg Downes has joined them after returning from overseas.

The remaining match of the round pits Launceston City against Olympia Warriors at Buckby Motors Park at 4.30pm.

Both teams can be dangerous on their day and a drew would not surprise.
