The player coach wasn't too bad today what say you haters

The player coach would be cringing at your comment 10.25pm

Walter, just to confirm please, but were there two goals scored on the same minute in the Kingborough-zebras game as where you have listed the scores and scorers, it shows goals for both teams in the 56th minute.

Also, were both keepers substituted by both teams in the game?

I say he is taking a spot away from another player if he is on the field, showing he doesn't have faith in those on the bench

I mean I know a win is a win after all and the Tassie football community only really cares about that above all else

Anonymous 10.38am, I am sorry. Its a typo and my mistake. Mies scored in the 66th.
I think only Kingborough substituted their keeper on the hour-mark because of injury.
Cheers!
Walter

Terry 11.26AM.
And what do you expect a coach to do who is coaching in the highest level in the state ?
I say that tongue in cheek because the highest level here is not that high any longer.
In theory his job is to win as many games as he can, otherwise he is wasting his time.
The development coaches below should be developing players.
However you do have a point in that there may not be sufficient faith in other players, but possibly rightly so.
Maybe he needs to play to give his team the best chance of winning.

South’s number 8 is slowly becoming their most important player. Yes they have the firepower up front but his ability to read the play and win aerial/2’nd balls is in my opinion the best in the league for his position. Walter/anyone can you elaborate on who is he/where he’s been previously? Cheers Brian.

Gus Higgins is the number 8 for South Hobart he joined them last season has previously played U20 NPL3 NSW.

There was a summer cup and the coach played, people here complained that it was just preseason and it didn't matter, surely that was the time to play young players and test them out?

He did this is preseason and now in the NPL but if it's necessary to be on the pitch to win then so be it, thats the way they need to play, although it says a bit about the club in my opinion

I do agree that there always needs to be development, the Lions always have had a massive youth base but seem not to have many come through the ranks and play NPL, this could be where the lack of faith comes from maybe?

If you are a fringe player and see the coach go on before someone else that has to play on their minds and confidence in some way

Terry. You are correct. 100%.
I didn’t agree with your comment regarding NPL clubs just
worry about winning. That is what they are there for?
Other points you make regarding youth development at that club is also spot on.
Things need to change down there but for some reason they don’t or won’t.

Thanks Ben. What a valuable pickup he is for them - didn't see much of him last year but he's obviously taking his chance & not looking back, will be interested to see how long he sticks around, the maturity in his game reminds me of the older generation of players.
Cheers Brian.

Walter - could you see the State League collapsing in 3-5 years? It seems the publicity has gone, the player quality and depth is decreasing and a lot of players are losing interest with the ongoing travel factor

Anonymous said...

I give women's game even less ,quality has certainly gone ,player base is reducing no quality coaching at youth level.
Very few decent coaches, think the C licence is handed out in cornflakes box.
With M Edwards at least he put effort in ,they should fly in from a Technical director, to do course .

Go back to regional.

Statewide cup and statewide pre season provide plenty of opportunity for north v south.

I think we need to get another state league team to come out of Launceston.

Anon 9.37PM.
Current FT board must take full blame for the state for the game in the state at present.
It has been in free fall ever since the departure of John Boulos.
Ignore the continual comments regarding the state of the women's game by the CEO because that is even worse . They are just political comments made to the media seeking acknowledgement from the many who do not know any better or follow the game at all. Of course they will believe it . What happened to all the hoo-ha regarding the Womens World Cup activity in Tasmania ? No more comment so near to the event ?
Pathetic.
