Its very nice to see that Launceston United showing that they have the depth with their squad and coaching ability to be a contender in the NPL that FFT wanted and also that Kingborough has a dedicated non playing coach because they have the depth that was required...Oh wait
Also I'm a neutral of the game
I enjoy the preputial amateur standard and mentality of Tassie football as much as the next person here so have at it and enjoy making me feel bad for my opinion
xoxo
Kingbrough are an absolute joke
3 Lton teams are a joke
League is over already as boring as always
Great to see Clarence developing youth.
No wonder their under 17 side will be gone next season
These sorts of score lines in the NPL most weeks are so embarrassing for the state of football here. Just give it a rest and go a 6 team NPL or North/South Premier Leagues like the conference setup in UK.
So where will they be going ?
So it's just the Knights that can save NPL Tas. AGAIN
Geez Launceston City have been a huge disappointment this season. The northern teams in general haven't given a yelp.
Kingborough are the perennial mid-table team. Nothing seems to have changed down there in decades.
Who knows what lies in store for the NPL. Things can't continue like this...
What ? Knights haven't saved anything except themselves. Such a ridiculous comment!
The experiment has not worked. Bring back Lino! Should never have let him go
Of course they can continue like this...it’s been like this for decades
Pitchfork shows more passion than any of the City players from the bench. Loves an f bomb
Well done FT. You ruined an already struggling competition with your (lack of) vision and understanding by bringing in a 3rd northern team in NPL. The CEO gone. Now it’s time to get real football people involved on the boats that have played and understand the game here
Your work with football here, Walter, has always been appreciated but why no coverage about Bulkeley's resignation, his legacy and what to hope for with a new CEO?
Anon June 14. 10.34pm.
Interesting comment. I presume there is some sarcasm there?
Please explain.
We can thank FF for that. They have no idea
City be lucky to finish this year any better than 5th from last year.
The other 2 lonny teams are a joke. Shouldnt be in NPL
Great decision by all concerned at FT for the decision to include the third team from Launceston.
Only someone with great vision and understanding would be able to make such an astute decision.
Someone is responsible for this horrendous decision. Blind billy could see that it was never going to work.
The only thing it has done is it has assisted the other eastern shore club big time.
They are the only winners here. Interesting isn’t it?????
Remember the last 2 years when Clarence were in a 'rebuild' and were 'developing their youth'
Uh not sure where you came up with this one. Just mindless trolling as usual
Anon 2.20.
The name Clarence would not exist today if not for a ridiculous merger
that has seen one clubs identity disappear and Clarence retain theirs.
Who was the smarter party in that transaction?
Didn’t know witches hats were black and white these days. Wish the board listened to some of its members as putting an inexperienced coaching staff was never going to work
They just won the U17 statewide cup. So your point is?
I miss Hobart Zebras/Juventus :(
City need to get behind and back Daniel and coaches in general
Geez the knives come out in this community. City still have a lot to play for, if poor form continues then sure pile on, but still in the mix for sure.... Will be interesting to where CZ end up- I don't know if they play the best style of football but they do have plans for opposition. I think thats Borough's problem, they get exposed by teams that come with a direct plan for them.
Shows how much the club listens to the players, they will mostly be at another club don't like senior coach
The team has gone backwards and not forwards
Bring back Lino!
Was always an interesting appointment. No experience at coaching at a high level straight up.
Clarence FC are worst footballing team in the league.
They will bounce around 5th and 4th spot.
616 while I agree that CZ don’t play the most attractive football , the coaches primary objective is to win games. He is doing a good job with that squad. As far as CZ being the worst footballing team, I can only assume you haven’t yet seen riverside and lonny United play ?
Anon June 19 , 7.04 pm.
Yes I have seen Riverside and United play.
They are not relevant in scheme of things.
If you want to compare Clarence to them then fine ,
Clarence are the third worst footballing team in the league.
Happy?
Well that's rubbish. Let me guess your from either Olympia or Knights.
So is this 2 horse race about to become just 1 horse to the finish line? I would think so. Knights were always going to prevail over Riverside on Sat so nothing to get excited about there but watch the first half. Quite a chuckle really. It’s the difference between them & the Strikers. All boils down to confidence on the pitch within your own team. Strikers have that confidence in each other & they don’t pick & choose who to play the ball to. Knight’s however only have it in some team mates. Such a strong backline oozing experience & yet watch the replay of the first half. A skilled player such as Lutmer expected to pass to an inexperienced young player who fumbles or gives it away continuously. Hence they don’t pass to their team, they pass to a player they have confidence in. Sunday will pretty much be the decider of the round. South vs Knights. Pretty sure if Knights coach doesn’t shake things up the race is over.
Wow- this comment shows a complete lack of understanding of an effective club board and what building capacity amongst coaches involves. Every coach starts somewhere- you can’t judge their success by half a season. I suggest your poorly informed insights belong somwhere else. If you don’t like what city are doing- find another colour to wear.
What a strange comment section, Walter. We get Devonport lovers, Devonport haters, fools who think it is relevant to point out poor grammar and punctuation, others (maybe the same aforementioned fools) asking whether people are OK and wishing them a good night's sleep (?) and yet any comment I make about Matt Bulkeley's time as CEO doesn't go through. I expect this won't be posted either. Is Bulkeley a protected species? I've followed your blog for years and used to regularly go to matches, but am now giving it all a miss.
The first half they scored 4 goals in?

Why is it strange? Stop being a sniper and put your name to your comments, especially when you're having a shot at someone who won't or can't defend themselves. If you put your name to it, chances are I'll publish it. I'm pleased you've followed my blog for years. Come to a game and introduce yourself as I'd love to meet you and discuss football issues.
Cheers!
Walter
What is good footballing side mean?watch Luton town play and listen to their coach comment “your allowed to kick the ball in air”and they just got promoted to the Premier League.
It is strange because you allow posts with no relevance to football at all. eg. that idiot correcting grammar and telling people to get a good nights sleep. What is his contribution to any debate? As for anonymous "snipers"....the comment section is full of them. You won't see me at any games I'm afraid. This rubbishy NPL is not worthy of support and I have better things to do than watch lop-sided matches and predictable results. Isn't Bulkeley allowed on your site? Maybe you could interview him and talk about his legacy.
Well said Walter.
Probably best you give it all a miss now then to be honest
So the kid your picking on is he much younger then the kid playing LB in that oozing defense?
Maybe you need to have better things to do now than be on this blog writing rubbishy comments directed at Walter. Give the bloke a break. He does brilliant things for the game. Maybe you need to put your hand up to take the top job now
Had capacity and experience with Lino and let him go for some who coached at what level before?
How many years did Lino have any side he coached in contention for a premiership? If he did -how long ago? Most would accept if not getting anywhere why would you expect things to change without changing structure/culture? New blood in coaching ranks may not bring instant success - and surely no-one should expect that it would. The young squad will develop given time and encouragement.
Again more lack of understanding - Lino resigned….. unless City planned on playing with no coach they had to replace him
