I believe Jayden Welch has been credited with Zebras first goal. Own Goals are never liked by either side.

eagles had a point taken away from them after a poor refereeing decision in extra time. to give a penalty at that stage of a game with 2 points at stake and a chance at finals for eagles just shows that our young referees are still not up to making those important calls. unlucky eagles a great game with good goals but losing to a lucky and undeserving zebras

I don't remember Crosswell scoring any penalties brah.

it was an own goal. the only people that wouldnt like it to be one would be zebras players/ supporters cuz then that means all of their goals were lucky!

Hey Whitey, did the Eagles defender ever consider....you know.....not jumping all over the Zebra bloke's back?

A foul is a foul champ. Doesn't matter what is at stake, or what time of the game it is. Needless foul, and the correct call.

Has anyone even noticed how Ben Whitehall refuses to track back and help defend?

So it's always the fault of the referee when a team looses! It's nothing to do with the players who consistanly foul each other, or the players who consistantly give away free kicks in the penalty area, or the players who consistantly get yellow cards, or the players who consistantly get red cards, or the players who consistantly fail to score goals!!!
The players and supporters who consistantly blame someome else when their team looses, are well and truly a consistant pain in the a*@e!!!!

has anyone even noticed ben whitehall had one goal one assist

yes i agree it was a foul BUT you dont give penalties for that. do you remember the up roar when kewell and cahill got sent off in the world cup. yes they were fouls but you DONT give red cards and penalties in certain situations. face it Zebras got LUCKY

this game summed up eagles season...bad luck and poor refereeing costing them.....it was no way a penalty...kenty jummed up for the balled and had eyes for it and walshy backed into him....only one player was going for the ball but patrick obviously wouldnt know the rules of the game if the rule book slapped him in the face...hes not up to standard and ppl wonder y players/supporters get frustrated......

Walsh backed under the ball to get the contact. No attempt to play the ball. Shouldve been obstruction and eagles kick.

Eagles Lost a point due to one of there own Defenders loosing his head at a critical point in the game in a critical area of the park. As said would have been a penalty in any game at any stage of the year. Overall good refereeing in this game.

Your defender took away a chance at 2 points and a 'possible' final 4 berth. Not poor refereeing!

Whitey, spend a minute reading through your entry and maybe you might see how silly it actually sounds. If, in your opinion, the decision was a bad one than thats fine but saying that the referee was wrong for awarding a penalty late in a game then you are in the wrong. I think its great that a referee DOES have the guts to make a decision like that late in a game. Im absolutely positive that if he gave a penalty to eagles in the 91st minute you would say how good a decision it was. get a grip, and like the previous anon put it... STOP BLAMING REFS!!!!!

anon 10.44, the refs are useless so why hide that fact?

I did see this game & I didn't think it was a penaly. Kent jumped and the zebra player just backed into him & never had his eye on the ball. Patrick was poor but for both club but to blame him for Eagles not making the Final 4 is very harsh. Eagles have only themselves to blame for not making it. To take only 3 points in 3 games against a team that has been on the bottom of the ladder for most of the season is not what a team that hopes to succeed should do & is just not good enough. Yes PAtrick is not up to it, YET, & neither is Kopra, @ all, but the blame has to remain with the senior players for not lifting throughout the year. They have some very good players but just need focus on the whole year & not leave it to the last few games of the season & them blame the ref if they don't win the game.
Zebras did get lucky but you make your own luck in this game

This comment is up there for stupidity with Whitey's drivel. If you agree it's a foul then you agree it's a penalty. A penalty is given for any direct free kick offence that occurs in the box. You can't just say you don't give the decision just because it will be a penalty because you are basically saying that players can do whatever they like in the box and not be punished because a penalty is too harsh. Rules are rules and at the end of the day, FIFA would back Patrick's call - end of story. Don't like it? Go watch AFL where you can do that stuff.

ANON 10.27
Suggest you do the next refs course & see what it is like.
regardless of what you think of them, they must be supported & encouraged, just imagine if all clubs had to supply refs for all games......

Hahahaha Eagles are sooking

Anonymous said...

not a penalty. kent made an attempt for the ball n walsh didnt. knew they couldnt win the game fairly so why not try to earn a penalty. face it zebras you were played off the park

Anonymous said...

Sounds like we have some people who have a different rule book than the one FIFA put out. It's simple really... if you are defending in the penalty box you have to be really careful.

Anonymous said...

Seems like there are some confused people out there. So the ref gives a foul for pushing in the box and its not a penalty? How does that work? If you are defending in the box you have to be really careful. Blaming the referees is easier than blaming yourself or your teammates I guess.

R U SERIOUS REF - If you dont give these Refs a go now, when do you?? There was nothing wrong with the way Patrick Refereed this game.

The free was there, he gave it as he saw it end of story.

Defenders need to be more disciplined in these areas. And to say Walsh didnt have eyes for the ball, what rubbish. I assume those making this statement all had binoculars on for this game. Be a good 50 - 70 metres to Eagles Team and supporters benches!

Once again always looking for an excuse to there own failures!

Anonymous said...

i wasnt at the game but did kent win the ball when he went up for it?

Anonymous said...

yeah he did win it but its pretty easy to when ur the only one going for it..... how can it be a penalty when one jumps for the ball and the other backs into him...rubbish refereeing....twice hes majorly screwed eagles over in games this year.... R u serious ref is correct however to many points dropped thru the year off teams who should have been beaten but abit of luck and some good refereeing wouldnt hurt next year....

anon 3.49pm - not even close

I think some people need to move on. I think they keep moaning because they think that harassing the referee will help them in future games when they can play their 'victim' card. Pathetic... isn't it.

Anonymous said...

I actually think.. In every blog people bag out the reffs, if it's so easy why can't you reff? The reff knows what he saw so get over it and play the game. The reff made the right decision. Eagles can't use it as an excuse.

Anonymous said...

how can it be a penalty when a defender out jumps an attacker and wins the header. a penalty if kent didnt make contact with the ball BUT he DID! so not a penalty for me....i dont think ppl on here are blaming patrick for eagles not making the top four but so many times this year refs have cost teams valuable points BUT it is also teams like eagles fault for losing their own points against average teams. im sure the zebras players will remember the late penalty against taroona to lose 4-3!! BUT that actually WAS a penalty. lucky once again juve

anon 9:37 PM i agree it cant be a pen. i wasnt there but if kent had gone up and won the ball with out welch even going up for the ball it shouldnt have been given. but in saying that i think everyone needs to easy up on the ref. sure he probably did make a bad call but what ref hasnt made a bad call before. he's only a young lad and i'm sure he will get better as he gets older. i remember ivan when he was younger couldnt wait to get his cards out know he's alot better and one of the probably top 3 refs in the state.
