The
Lions did well to hold Zebras to a scoreless opening half, but it was clear
that it would only be a matter of time.
Lions’
Zoe Horgan was restricted largely to a defensive role deep in her own half,
while striker Laura Davis was getting little change from Zebras’ central
defenders, Selina Steventon and Kayla Mason.
The
Lions were largely restricted to long balls played forward and down the flanks,
but any attacking forays were quickly snuffed out by the Zebras rearguard.

It
took almost an hour for zebras to hit the front, and it came from a penalty
converted clinically by Steventon.
Five
minutes later, Zoe Nichols made it 2-0, while in the 67th minute, substitute
Danielle Kannegiesser added a third.
An
injury to Davis did not help the Lions, but they hung on until the final minute
when Allie Berry made it 4-0.
