Interested to hear who would be in your starting XI Walt?

Also, if you could pick a Starting XI/ Squad from the period of the NPL/Victory League (since 2013), who would be in your side? Gee we've had some great players over that time. Would love to hear fellow bloggers teams too.

No offence but a team of imports and interstate players from the npl would wipe the floor with this team let alone wot CC will do

8.39. Just the imports in Tasmaina no need to go to the mainland or just let Devonport play them.

Can someone explain this. if the tas all stars team is just made up of home grown youth developed NPL players with no so called imports allowed. Don’t take this the wrong way because I believe the best football coach in the Tasmaina’s npl at the moment is one of the coaches and a selector, but is also an import am I wrong?

Would have thought you all would want to put on a show of the best in your league from this season imports and all with the A league coming to town.

So why is Smithy involved as a coach ??? He has had NO experience as a head coach before coming back to TAS and from what i have seen so far, he has not shown anything. Talks the Talk but nothing special. Why is he even involved ?? The Tassie click - coffee club, R Clarke deserves a gig more than Smithy. A JOKE..

Strange concept having two sets of 11 players. One for each half.
It would be exciting for players to play against and A league team
but I am not sure if this decision.
Is it because the local players would not be competitive enough for
for an entire game?
Just seems like a strange thing to do.
I will guarantee that there will be one or two players
that will play more than half a game .
Listen to the complaints then.
It seems like a total waste of time.

Maybe each coach can take charge for 15 mins each !
What a farce four coaches and we want a A/League side !
No wonder the mainland laugh at us !
King Kenny just can't step back from the limelight !
Is it about the players or the coaches ego's!
I think the latter !

Surely Matty Sanders should be included in a state of origin squad? Thoughts

Anonymous said...

Mathew Sanders omission is a prime example of the farce the game is let's face it what the hell would the, FFT TD know the lack of quality youth in the state is a sign of his coaching effort's THE COFFEE CLUB IT SURE IS .

Was available for selection but was not picked. This is why people laugh at us as a state

1. Why on earth is this scheduled the day after the season finishes? The day after the NPL Tas dinner? Players will definitely be out drinking and celebrating the end of the season (as they should too!).

2. Why on earth has they named 26 players only to be cut to 22 players? I feel for the 4 players who will be cut. Looking at the list it looks like it will be 2 defenders, 1 mid, and 1 striker. Why not leave them off the list and call them up and congratulate them on a good a season, and let them know they were close to the final squad. OR, maybe name the 4 as emergencies, and should any player from the 22 be injured in the next few weeks, they get the call up. At least this way they still get the public recognition of having a great season.

3. Matty Sanders not included?! Apparently not born in Tas?

4. FFT are an absolute shambles.

5. Refer back to point 4.

Shouldn't this be a chance to showcase Tasmanian football, to get us on the Australian map, and to prove we can have our own Tas A-league team? Surely removing imports from this game hurts us. If Tas ever get an A-league license (not looking good), I would imagine 90% of the team will be imported..

Why have two different teams for two different halves? That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. And why have this game at South Hobart oval?

The soccer facilities in this state are a joke. It's embarrassing having an A-League team play in these conditions. It makes Tasmania look pathetic. FFT are a stain on the game here, soccer will never advance in this state with the same muppets in charge.

Maybe they could play every team in the NPL TAS league for 10 mins each team 9 coaches everyone gets a go then. Something that could have been great for Tasmanian football has been turned into a shadow of its former self. Guess that's what committees do best. Still some good players in this large squad.

Let me get this straight- A self appointed selector/coach has chosen a squad a players for an exhibition game. Said person has enlisted a so called selector who is rarely seen at an NPL game. This game will be played the day after the season ending commencement dinner, I hope there is not a hosted bar available.
It appears that the Northern selected squad will play the first half and the Southern selected squad the second half. I must have missed the trial selection dates for the player selection.
The Northern side will be coached by the current first place coach and the Southern side by the current fourth place coach.
Selected players are only supposed to play a max of 45 minutes. Good luck with that.
Oh, I forgot to mention there may be some training sessions prior to this farcical match. Good luck with that too.
One has to wonder who is benefitting from this? Surely FT has to take the reigns here and organise something with legitimacy for the sake of local football.
The organisation of this match is purely the tail wagging the dog.
FT it is time to fill your boots and start to work for the benefit of all the clubs instead of one or two.
The game will never grow in Tasmania if the governing body capitulates to the one or two who try to project that they are benefitting local football, when in fact, the opposite is true.

Oh what a joke this game. Much ado about nothing. Think I will stay home and watch the footy!

OK enough said it's getting boring running in circles and the old school power mongers in Tasmainia will always keep the youth from going ahead but the lime in limelight will fade always does. That said, I invite all of you to google.

SURF CITY CUP Gold Coast KNIGHTS FC

THIS is how you invite A league teams to your state. Local Gold Coast NPL club have organised this spectacular event AT THEIR HOME GROUND only $20 a ticket worth flying up for.

Love to read your thoughts

I am thinking that I won’t even pay two cents to watch a disjointed ego fest scrimmage at darcy st!
Unless, all of the gate money went to a worthy charity, I will miss this one.

Anonymous said...

Here's my thoughts...enjoy the Gold Coast Cup where not a single local player will get to be on the pitch...the matches here may not be perfect but it will be a good experience for our players. And maybe you could stay in QLD afterwards and never come back. Does lime fade? Is that even possible.

To be fair to FFT it is a South Hobart mess and they head our A/LEAGUE BID WE HAVE NO HOPE.

So many pathetic petty comments on here. Stay home all season is my advice. The game doesn’t need your black holes of negativity. This is a great initiative. A lot of Tassie players will get a run against quality opponents - pre season matches often have plenty of changes in line up. Yes it’s pre season for the Mariners. They will probably want to give lots of their squad a run. Let’s put this tiny minded drivel away and support the squad.

I would Love to see Hamlett, Sanders and Mies play up front :)

A pre season game one day after the season ended. Game yes pre season I do not think so.

A pre season game where the night before all the players will be at the annual FT drink fest.

There is nothing good about this CCM fixture. Nothing.

Staying home and as someone else wrote watching the footy is definitely the way to go.

Reply to 8:39AM.

I agree, kind of.. We definitely have to support the players who have been chosen, and the coaches who will lead the way. This is a very exciting game for those involved, and one they will remember for life. However, I don't think any of the complaints on here are aimed directly at the players. But unfortunately, boycotting the event, like some have suggested, will affect the players immensely. FFT have been largely incompetent, and I think they rightly deserve the feedback they are receiving. We just need to make sure we support the players too.

Anon 8.39 . A great initiative?
That it may be but playing two separate teams each half is an
an absolute joke. It makes a mockery of our game and standard.
Great to get CCM but timing is poor and should not go ahead,
I understand there may be other commitments for CCM but the
whole thing is one club’s effort at promoting themselves.
And good on them for doing so. No other club can organise
anything similar due to incompetencies .
Timing poor. Two teams of 11 poor. Overall great initiative.
It beats clubs who mean about finances and sponsorship levels
but these actual clubs don’t have people collecting entry fees at games.
That is the easiest money you can raise.

Anonymous said...

So I suppose we'll get a sudden influx of Olympia love for the Central Coast Mariners will we? Will they support the Tassie Team?

Anonymous said...

Anon 9.56. It’s a pre season game for CCM not
Tasmania or South

Boycott is the wrong word. In order to boycott you have to have wanted to do but you don’t because of some cause or agenda.
In this instance the game is a farce and I simply do not want to go. So no boycott just common sense in not attending a farcical fixture.
